On the plus side Saturdays 6/1 acca arrived and Kwagga scored the last try - thanks Couch
Might to a video looking at group standings heading into the final round
Here are my projected handicaps with actual caps (where available) in brackets
New Zealand -65.5 (-67.5) v Uruguay
France -28.5 (-28.5) v Italy
Wales -14.5 (-20.5) v Georgia
England -24.5 (-18.5) v Samoa
Ireland -12.5 (-13.5) v Scotland
Japan +9.5 (+14.5) v Argentina
Tonga -42.5 v Romania
Fiji -18.5 v Portugal
I suspect I may be out with the 3 caps where there are big differences although do think money will come for Georgia at +20.5
Look forward to your thoughts

Also like Portugal +28.5pts
Fiji only need a point and Os Lobos have been the find of the tournament for me
Also like England -18.5 v Samoa. Will wait for team selection as already Q'd England may rest a few and minus might reel back. Samoa have been awful and England have found some form

Eddie's powerful (rugby sponsors) friends in Japan have agreed to make big donations to Fijian rugby programs.
In return Eddie ensures a Japanese team into SR (Fiji and Samoa in already).
Fiji then lose to Portugal (good for global rugby), and Australia go into QFs.
I just can't workout how Japan gets to beat Argentina to go into QFs, but it's in the mix somewhere.
Couldn't happen, right ?
Portugal win is 11.50 at Sunbet

Oh!
Are you implying that the Sunwolves will return to Super Rugby?

Maybe. If that's what's been agreed. It's just a theory based on Eddie's (alleged) interview call/discussion with Japan rugby from last week.Quill wrote:

It's an everyone wins scenario, backed by big money
Stuff like that happens in most other sports, and although we believe rugby is super-clean, it's really only a matter of time. No ?

So Eddie's phone call to Japan was not really an interview, so he's telling the truth there!Kirky wrote:

What it was, was actually his way of making it through the group stage and shut a few voices!
It is not a sci-fi theory, it happens elsewhere indeed, in various shapes and forms.
Shall we place the bets on Portugal to win?

AB's missing Savea, Smith, Retallick, Ioane, Laulala, and Tele'a. This is very clearly a B side. The bench should see decent minutes including the likes of Christie and Clarke whom have both have been terrible, Christie in particular. There is a guy in Hawkes bay sniffing coke off a broken Ranfurly shield that is better than him HA!
Tough opposing the ABs after watching the demolish the Italians but this isn't the same team.
Uruguay +69.5 / + 57.5 @ $3.50

I like England's overs.
They currently have 132 points.
Their handicap is 221.5.
They should play another 4 matches in this World Cup.
Samoa
Fiji
Semi
3 rd place match.
I can see them getting 35 against Samoa, another 30 against Fiji and then needing 25 points more with 2 games left. Surely. 3rd and 4th place games are usually big scores.
9/10, I’m taking that.

A unit is a part of how much you establish to bet for yourself as a maximum bet, normally between 2% and 5% of your bank, of your funds reserved for betting.van Dyk wrote: So as a betting noob, can someone tell me what the unit? So like below it says 0.5 unit.
BET: 0.5 unit Finlay Christie Last Try Score at 22/1 (was 18/1)
thanks
For example if your bank is 1,000 dollars (rand or whatever currency), your maximum bet should be 20. Then depending on how you feel about a bet, that is so-so or stronger, you decide the amount to bet on it.
You divide the 20 dollars into units, say 5 units for the sake of our calculation. That makes a unit equal to 4 dollars.
If you feel strong about a bet, you say I bet 5 units, that is you bet your maximum on it, that is 20 dollars.
If you don't feel so strong about it, you say 0.5 units, or 1 unit or 2 units. Then that means that the amount you bet is 2 dollars (0.5 units), 4 dollars or 8 dollars, respectively.
Also, the number of units you play depends on the odds. Like in your example, the odds are very big at 22/1, so there isn't much sense to put your full size bet on it, no matter how strong you feel about it, as even with half a unit you can win a lot. You can minimize the risk by placing a smaller bet, as it compensates with the size of the odds.
Sometimes you will see on this forum some people saying 6 units, which means they feel very strong about a bet, so strong that they are willing to increase their stake on it. That is when the odds in play are around 1.80 - 2.20 (every country has their own number style, fraction, decimals, plus/minus).
Bigger than that and you can decrease the size of your bet, the number of units you are willing to risk.
This is just one way of looking at it. If you do a google search, I am sure you will find other explanations as well.

Thanks to Quill for the explanation and using my scale I have 10 units as a max bet (hardy ever used) and most 9/10 shots will be best of 4-6 units depending on how strong I fancy it - on the longer prices I sometime go down to 1 unit or sometimes 0.5 units - so basically just an interest.
I did an article on it once and used to reference it from previews - this is a reminder I should do so again - thanks

Wales v Georgia over 49.5 @ 10/11
I do think this ground has been strong for points, has best surface of venues and perfect conditions again.
England v Samoa over 52.5 @ 10/11
Conditions also clear, I think Samoa have a crack here and either plays into englands hands who get a lot of counter attacking space, or Samoa get a few tries and scoreboard keeps ticking over.
Ireland Scotland - Scotland plus is where I’m probably heading but will see how afternoon punting goes first.
Looking for a few from Rees Zammit today as have him @ evens for top wales tournament tryscorer.

England v Samoa Betting Preview
Over 52.1 at 1/1
Mitchell FTS at 12/1
France half time handicap arrived comfortably although I gave winnings back on Italy bets at the break. They were useless but at the same time that was one of the most one sided reffing performances I have witnessed - he gave Italy nothing - I don't think Italy cap backers can complain but Italy points backers certainly can

Wales Over 33.5
Wales -18.5 / -26.5 @ $2.9
Prefer under 52.5 in the England V Samoa game. England has been strong defensively and Samoa also impressed on D while struggling in attack except for the final 15 minutes vs Japan. Expect a similar score to the Japan and Argentina game. 30ish to 10 ish.
