The latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the weekend 16th, 17th May

It’s a crisp and beautiful morning here in Johannesburg and, with plenty of great sport to look forward to this weekend, it’s a wonderful time to be alive.

Rugby continues later today with five URC matches on the cards and you can click here for the URC rugby blog bets, which will be added during the course of the day.

Super Rugby is almost done, but there is still the Force v Reds game to look forward to later this morning as well as Giro and Golf this afternoon and tonight.

The Handicap:
I was joined first by the Mossman and then by the Oracle (who was all over Cardiff last night) to discuss Super Rugby and the URC, and there are a few key shortcuts below.

WEEKEND PLAYS
Bulls to run riot at Loftus
I have been waiting for the points lines in the URC games but the bookies have seen me coming with a quote of 79 points in the Bulls v Zebre game and 62.5 in Durban.
The Bulls should be far too strong for Benetton but I always worry about consolation tries and will go for a bet on Bulls to score 9 tries or more – this should be carnage

BET: 2 units (1-5) Bulls over 8.5 tries at 0.87/1 at Pokerbet

A 6.4/1 Rugby Treble
I am not strong on much in the rugby and am throwing together an interest treble
Sharks over 45.5 points at 0.87
Leinster -10.5 ht handicap at 1/1
Munster v Lions under 47.5 at 19/20

Bet: 1 unit (1-5) at 6.4/1 at WSB – here is the code 6478204

Potgieter flies the South African flag
I was up late last night watching PGA Championship golf and I’m certainly enjoying what is proving to be a demanding test for the players.
Twenty-one-year-old South African Aldrich Potgieter led the field with two holes to play, but unfortunately finished bogey-bogey. He now sits at -3, just one shot off the lead, and is trading at a tempting 50/1 to deliver South Africa’s first major victory in many a year.
The leaderboard is tightly condensed and packed with quality, with the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Åberg hovering just off the pace.
My main bet for the balance of the weekend is Scheffler to finish in the Top 5 as I think this is the sort of course where the cream will rise to the top.

BET: 2 units (1-5) Scheffler Top 5 at 8/10 at 8/10 at WSB

Cycling – Giro d’Italia
Giro d'Italia continues to entertain and Jonas Vingegaard won Stage 7 in impressive fashion. In what looks a fairly thin field from a general classification perspective, he already appears to have one hand on the trophy.
Today’s stage should make for entertaining viewing, with a few short climbs towards the end likely ruling out the pure sprinters. We could either get a GC battle late on or perhaps a reduced bunch sprint among the stronger all-rounders.
I’m going to get involved with a newsletter bet on this one and side with former pink jersey holder Giulio Ciccone.

Bet: 1 unit (1–5) – Giulio Ciccone to win Stage 8 at 8/1 at BetXchange.

Other highlights on Good for the Game

That’s all from me and after a big night on the town last weekend todays menu consists of gym, couch, Giro, Rugby and Golf.

Have a good one
