This will be the final newsletter of what for me has been a challenging punting year. My strike rate in terms of preview picks has been pretty decent, but my decision-making as to when to go big and how to structure bets has been poor and I am set, barring a punting miracle to book my 2nd losing year in the last 12. I feel like things have been a bit forced at times and a couple of weeks off from punting is hopefully what the doctor ordered.
Thanks to everyone who has supported Goodforthegame throughout the year, whether by watching The Handicap, reading the Goodforthegame previews, commenting in the forum or reading my weekly newsletter. I wish all of you a relaxing festive season and a profitable 2026.

The Handicap - Final Show of 2025
The Handicap will be back mid-January and the final show of the year was a cracker with young pup The Admiral and old dog The Oracle. The whole show is worth a watch but here are some shortcuts to key games, including a classic (perhaps his best yet) Oracle story in the Sharks v Bulls game:

Weekend Plays
With my confidence a little low I won’t be flying into anything this weekend, but The Admiral mentioned on the show that it was an “unders” weekend for him, and I tend to agree.
Weather looks like being a factor in the Ospreys and Dragons games, with rain and high winds expected. The surface for the Stormers game doesn’t loom great and could be a factor. Sharks games at this time of year tend to be scrappy affairs, and Glasgow v Edinburgh is historically a low-scoring matchup.
I will post bets on individual games in the blog and the forum thread but to end the newsletter year off here is an unders acca at Betxchange listed in order of preference
