Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday 13th December where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
CHAMPAGNE CASTLE produced a promising debut effort when third in the Non-Black Type Futurity Plate. She lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and will love the extra 200m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
FYFIELD LEGEND finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He showed good speed before tiring late into fourth. The son of What A Winter would have come on from the outing and should produce a competitive effort.
GODRIC GRYFFINDOR is an unraced son of Time Thief from the Vaughan Marshall stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He is related to five-time winner Time Fo Orchids. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 2
GALLIC KING is the best bet on the programme. He ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second has come out and won since. The son of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and is the horse to beat.
ROCKANROLLIN has finished third in his last three starts. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Wootton Bassett may be at his best over further, but he will be mowing down the frontrunners and may fill the exacta spot.
THESHOWMUSTGOON finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 3
This is a competitive Class 4 contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SPIRIT from the Piet and Elbert Steyn yard. He did not go on with the effort in the Listed Sophomore Sprint last time. His form prior to that outing was consistent. The son of Rafeef drops back in class and Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle. If putting his best foot forward, he may be the one to beat.
AZZURRI stayed on when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CHURCHILLIAN tried hard when second over 1000m on this course last time. The son of Rafeef is having his peak run and should be cherry-ripe. The obvious concern is his big weight of 63.5kgs, but he is the class horse in the race and cannot be discounted.
Race 4
RED PALACE produced an encouraging seasonal debut in the Grade 3 Cape Mile last time. Despite over racing in the early stages, she stayed on nicely at the business end. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. The daughter of Potala Palace will strip much fitter and with luck in running, she can notch up her sixth-career victory.
SWIATEK has good recent form lines to her name. She was slow into stride in the Non-Black Type Summer Bowl last time, but finished off her race well. The daughter of Pomodoro should love the rise to 1800m and with just 52.5kgs on her back, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
RAINBOW LORIKEET finished 2.7 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter.
Race 5
This is a competitive Cape Merchants field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is O’TENIKWA from the Andre Nel stable. He has good consistent form lines to his credit. His seasonal debut when 0.7 lengths behind I AM GIANT was encouraging. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Vercingetorix always gives of his best and may be the one to side with.
OUTLAW KING won a good race over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. The son of Rafeef won this race last year and can defend his title.
I AM GIANT won his seasonal debut well over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. Despite his big weight of 62kgs, he should be competitive.
Race 6
SAIL THE SEAS produced an eye-catching comeback run over 1400m on this course. He raced from a handy position, moved up well before getting outrun late by Great Plains. The classy son of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and will be at home over 1600m. He should get a good run in transit from an ideal draw of four and can return to winning ways.
DAVE THE KING showed some signs of needing his seasonal debut over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The 6yo gelding will love the rise to 1600m. He is likely to race on the pace from barrier five and may be hard to peg back.
GLADATORIAN was given a peach of a ride when winning his seasonal debut over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Vercingetorix is an honest individual and always gives of his best. He will be finishing strongly and can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 7
HAPPY VERSE ran a cracker when fourth in the Grade 2 Race Coast Cape Punters Cup last time. He raced wide around the turn, stayed on strongly before having to check late. The son of Vercingetorix would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. He is a horse who looks to have plenty of class about him and with a bit of luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
JAN VAN GOYEN showed signs of needing his last start in the Grade 2 Jackpot City Dingaans. He took the lead at the 400m mark before getting outrun late by Trust. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the outing. He jumps from an ideal draw of four and the Grade 1 winner, merits healthy respect.
RANDOLPH HEARST ran on from last when 0.05 lengths behind GOOD FOR YOU in the Grade 2 Race Coast Cape Punters Cup last time. He is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 8
ZEITZ stayed on at the finish when fourth in the Grade 3 Cape Mile last time. He has won over this C&D previously. The blinkers have been removed and Keagan de Melo steps into the saddle. He will be at peak fitness and can return to winning ways.
MAJOR MASTER ran on from last when winning his last start over 1500m on this course. He finished 1.4 lengths behind CHASINGTHERAINBOW in his penultimate outing. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and merits healthy respect.
REGULATION was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position, found a good kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Legislate is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.
Race 9
IT IS MY TIME was given a confident ride when winning his last start over 1400m on the Winter course. He was sent to the front under Grant van Niekerk and kept finding all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The blinkers have done the trick and from pole position, he can follow up with another victory.
MENTE ET MANU finished 0.5 lengths behind AFRIQUE last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. If Richard Fourie is able to switch him off early, he should be involved at the finish.
AFRIQUE was running on when third over this distance on the Winter course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Despite his big weight of 62kgs, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest
