RACE 1
ALESIAN BEAU showed plenty of toe and was only run out of it late when finishing second last time out over 1000m, 3.25L behind the winner. He gets champion jockey Craig Zackey in the irons, so he will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. NORSE WARRIOR has posted two solid last runs, the latest when third over 1300m, 1.6L back from the winner. He set the fractions in that event and on that effort he should appreciate the drop in distance. GREEN POINT drops in trip after ending up in fourth place last time out over 1400m, 4.75L back from the victor and from his handy draw four, he should be right up there when they hit the line.
RACE 2
STONE OF SCONE was bumped at the 800m mark when finishing second in her latest outing over 1200m, 2.2L off the winner, so she had her excuses.
TP THUNDERCHILD raced just behind the leaders when ending up in fourth spot over 1200m, 2.85L adrift of the victor. She gets a handy draw four and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.
TIPSY showed plenty of speed, only to be run out of it over the latter stages to end up in third place last time out over 1200m, 2.75L off the winner. She is drawn wideish in gate seven, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy and should be included in all bets.
RACE 3
KING VISERYS delivered a powerful finish to win his latest outing over 1400m by 2.25L and should enjoy the extra ground on offer here. The gelding is drawn best in pole position and a quick double is very much on the cards.
PARDON ME on the other hand will have to negotiate a wideish gate eight, but he showed marked improvement when finishing third in his latest start over 1600m, 1.35L off the winner. If he is able to confirm that last effort, he should not be easily overlooked jumping from gate five.
ALADO‘S PRIDE was slow away, but ran on well from some way back to end up in second place last time out over 1600m, beaten just a head. From gate eight, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the leaders over the closing stages.
RACE 4
SABOTEUR followed up her maiden victory with a second place finish next time out over the same C&D, four and a half lengths behind the winner. She stayed on well over the latter stages in that contest and her in-form trainer steps her up in trip here. From a useful draw four, she could chalk up her second win.
ROCK ME MAMA followed up her maiden win with a second spot finish last time out over 1600m, beaten just a half-length. She seemed to relish the extra ground and although drawn wide in gate nine, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.
CHRONICLESOFNANIA overraced in the early and middle stages, but still managed to stay on well to finish fifth last time out over 1600m, 2.75L back from the victor. She has cracked pole position and should not be easily overlooked in this line-up.
RACE 5
SILENT TRIGGER finished third in his last two outings, the latest over 1600m, one and a half lengths back from the winner. he tried to go from jump to wire that day and from his wideish draw seven, he is likely to try the same tactics. The drop in trip should be to his advantage, as will Craig Zackey be in the saddle.
HOSPICES DE BEAUNE tried to go from gun to tape when finishing fourth last time out over 1600m, 1.6L behind the victor and from gate five he may prove hard to reel in over the latter stages with Kyle Strydom retaining the ride.
CHEERFUL CHARLIE B stumbled and had to be steadied at the 100m mark when finishing a creditable fifth in his latest outing over 1600m, 1.85L back from the winner. He has pulled a cozy draw of four and the retained Hollywood Racing jockey gets back in the irons.
RACE 6
The day’s value bet, SUSURRANDO had solid form prior to being a little disappointing when ending up in third place last time out over 1400m, 4.25L adrift of the winner, but Wayne Agrella knows him well and although having to navigate a wideish draw eight, he could be good enough to secure his second career victory.
STOKESY followed up his penultimate run, victory over 1400m with a second place finish next time out over 1200m, beaten just a neck. He attempted to go from jump to wire in that event and was only grabbed in the shadow of the post. The gelding has pulled pole position and Callan Murray is sure to put that to good use.
BLAME IT ON ME is another who won his penultimate start over 1400m and then finished second over the same distance next time out, just 0.75L behind the victor, but it should be noted that he hung out over the closing stages. The gelding faces a wideish gate seven, but he is likely to turn in another honest performance here.
RACE 7
MERCANTOUR missed out on his hat-trick when finishing second last time out back over 1200m, 1.75L behind the winner. He delivered a powerful finish on that occasion and should relish the extra ground on offer here. He will be having his second run after a rest, but his stable is red-hot at the moment and he could prove hard to topple, jumping from a handy draw four.
ALL SYSTEMS GO put his disappointing run in the SA Classic at Turffontein behind him when winning on his return home over 1200m by 2.75L. He showed any amount of speed that day and from gate four, he could follow up here.
GUY GIBSON won over 1200m three runs back, finished sixth next time out over 1400m and then fourth in his latest outing over 1200m, 3.85L back from the winner. He was reported to have been coughing that day, so that effort is best ignored. The gelding is drawn the widest in gate eight, but he makes a solid back-up for the Alan Greeff yard.
RACE 8
TRAVEL MASTER missed out on his hat-trick after two wins over 1200m when finishing third in his latest outing over 1400m, 0.75L back from the winner. Whilst that was a creditable effort, he is a four time winner over today’s trip. The gelding gets a useful draw three and will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.
OLAF THE STOUT has only had the four runs to date and followed up on his 8.25L victory in his penultimate start over 1200m with a fourth place finish next time out over 1300m, 2.25 lengths off the winner, but he jumped awkwardly that day and had to be steadied close to home. He will have to deal with a wide draw nine, but should keep his stable companion honest.
KWAGGA BLITZ has finished closer to the winner in his last three runs, the latest over 1200m, just a head behind the winner. That was his first outing for his new stable and he was returning from a 29 week break. he would have come on with that run under his belt and he could go one better in this line-up
