Race 1
ARKADIN has consistent recent form to his name. He showed speed over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but found one too good in the form of Barry’s Boy. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He finished third over this C&D in his penultimate run. If all goes according to plan, he can shed his maiden tag.
ONE PEPPER was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1200m on this course last time. He finished third over this distance, three runs ago. The son of One World is having his peak run and can make amends.
FLEUR DELACOUR found one too good in the form of One Flight last time. The daughter of Canford Cliffs should love the rise to 1400m. She has cracked a good draw of three and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 2
ABBEY‘S WORLD is the top bet on the programme. She showed pace over 1200m last time and tried hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of One World may be ideally suited to 1000m and in this field, she can go one better.
MIST IN MARYLAND was touched off in her last start over 1200m on the polytrack. She finished 2.2 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms and she may have to settle for the same result.
SWEET FAYE lost three lengths leaving the start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but stayed on to finish third. If getting away on terms, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
CAVALRY COMMANDER should have finished closer to the winner over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. His last victory came under Richard Fourie, and he may be the one to side with.
MOJO MAN ran on strongly when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. He finished 1.7 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate effort. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
PHUTULICIOUS won a good race over 1200m on this course, last week Friday. The son of Fire Away is at his best over further, but he is in a good space and can earn another cheque.
Race 4
FRENCH WAR LORD followed up his maiden victory with a creditable fourth-place finish over this trip at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
CHAMPAGNE MAC showed good speed when winning his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has won over this distance previously, is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
LUNCH MONEY finished 0.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 5
MYSTICAL MISS was caught late over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She returns from a 12-week break, during which time she would have freshened up. Apprentice Divesh Ramkhalawon takes the 2.5kgs off her back and if fit, she can go one better.
LADY GODIVA tried hard when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that Your Ladyship has come out and won again since. She is having her peak run and with luck in running, she should pose a massive threat.
SIGN OF FATE ran a fair race over this distance on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She runs well on this course and merits obvious consideration.
Race 6
CITY OF LOVE moved up well over this C&D last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Maphaka. The son of Rafeef has won on this course previously. 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Anaas Mosaheb retains the ride and the combination can go one better.
ROMAN AGENT showed speed when winning his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. He is in a good space and with luck in running, he should go close.
CAPTAIN‘S CHRISTY finished 1.2 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. She will strip much fitter and can feature.
Race 7
CURIOUS GIRL is one of the better bets on the card. She is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July. The daughter of Futura returns from a 14-week break and makes her seasonal debut. She would have strengthened up during her time off the track and does not have to be at peak fitness to win a race of this nature.
GO GRAYSON GO is better than his last start over 1400m. His two efforts prior to that outing were good. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he may be hard to peg back.
MASTER DU ROUVRAY is better than his comeback effort as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts on this course. The son of Master Of My Fate will strip much fitter and on previous form, he can earn.
Race 8
NATIVE RULER is better than his last start in the Grade 3 World Pool Gold Cup. He returns from an 11- week break and makes his seasonal debut. The son of Vercingetorix is ideally at his best over further, but is the class horse and merits healthy respect.
CHARGE IT returns from a 24-week break which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight won her only attempt over this C&D. She is a filly with class and if not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.
CHESTNUT BOMBER returns from a 14-week break and is having his first outing for Trainer Tienie Prinsloo. He won his only attempt on this course. If not in need of the run, he would not be a surprise winner.
RACE 9
SERPENTINE FIRE raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Zagreb. The son of Potala Palace gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Anaas Mosaheb which will assist his cause. With luck in running, he can notch up his third-career victory.
BLIZZARD QUEST returns from a 12-week break and makes his way to KwaZulu-Natal. He has won over this C&D previously. He takes a slight drop in class and if fit, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
DRICUS ran a good race when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. He has won on this course previously. If getting away on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest
