Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Thursday 27th August where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
SURREAL SONG‘S last three starts have been creditable. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be eased at the 150m mark. The daughter of Vercingetorix meets the right field and she is the horse to beat.
PENNYS CHOICE is having her first outing for Mike and Mathew de Kock. She raced from just off the pace over 1160m last time and stayed on to finish third. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ASTROPHILE had excuses in her last outing over this distance. She finished second on debut and that effort catches the eye. She is a filly with scope and should feature.
Race 2
GALLIC KING returns from a 32-week break and is having his first outing for the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable. He is better than his last start over 1400m. The son of Vercingetorix should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and if not in need of the run, he should shed his maiden tag.
THE BACHELORETTE is better than her last start as she was reported to have choked up. Her debut effort when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course, catches the eye. The daughter of William Longsword has scope and she is one of the leading contenders.
SMOKING GUN has shown improvement in each of his efforts to date. The son of Act Of War should enjoy the drop to 1000m and he can finish in the placings.
Race 3
IMYOURHUCKLEBERRY showed good improvement over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He lost three lengths leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Time Thief has scope and if getting away on terms, he can shed his maiden tag.
DREAMING OF YOUTH ran a good race when third over 1400m last time. He set the pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of Royal Mo is having his peak run and is one of the leading contenders.
ROYALE JACKET has finished second in his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1400m at Turffontein. He is a battling maiden but Keagan de Melo may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
Race 4
EMPRESS OF PEACE found one too good in the form of Hot Choice last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If Calvin Habib is able to switch her off early, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
NORTHERN EUROPEAN has fair recent form to her name. She finished third over this C&D in her penultimate outing. Callan Murray retains the ride and the combination merit obvious consideration.
ELISA MBALI found one too good in the form of One State last time. The obvious concern is the widest draw but with luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
ONE STATE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1700m last time. He set the pace, found another kick and drew off in the closing stages. The son of One World takes on stronger, but he has scope and should be up to the task at hand.
THE MIGHTIEST finished 0.5 lengths behind BAY EMPIRE last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around.
BAY EMPIRE is a winner of his last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. The son of Fire Away is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 6
PRINCE OF KILDARE has finished second in his last three starts. He found one too good in the form of Mission To Mars last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The 6yo gelding drops back in class and Muzi Yeni may be able to get the best out of him.
SKY PILOT stayed on when third over this distance at Turffontein last time. He is in a good space and if Gavin Lerena can switch him off early, he should go close.
AFTER HOURS fought hard for his last victory over 1450m on this course. He received a four-pound penalty for that win. He is in a good space and from pole position, he can follow up.
Race 7
TRIP OF FAITH is the top bet on the programme. She was an easy winner of her last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. She showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If suited to the extra distance on offer, she should take a power of beating.
FISH HAWK finished 2.75 lengths behind AMERICAN BEAUTY last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around.
AMERICAN BEAUTY has good recent form to her name. She won her only attempt over this distance. She is likely to race on the pace and may be hard to peg back.
Race 8
DELAWARE RIVER was reported to be blowing after her last start over 1600m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She drops back in trip and from Barrier Two, she should fight out the finish.
LIGHTINTHEWOODS showed a good turn of foot when winning her maiden over 1400m at Turffontein. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight takes on stronger, but she has scope and should be up to the task at hand.
OH MY GUCCI GIRL ran a fair race over 1400m at Turffontein last time. She has dropped in the ratings and on best form shown, she can finish in the placings.
Race 9
ELUSIVE RED stayed on when fourth over 1450m on this course last time. He was unlucky not to have won his penultimate outing under Craig Zackey. The son of Elusive Fort drops to 1200m, will be running on and can return to winning ways.
BLINDFIRE found one too good in the form of Nkandla Gold last time. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from 11 starts on this course. If this run has not come too soon, she can go close.
LATE BLOOMER won her local debut over 1600m. She returns from a well-deserved 12-week break. She takes on stronger, but if not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself
