The Sharks completed back to back wins over the Stormers towards the end of January to put themselves in the play off picture but in February they went down away to the Lions (34-22) and the Bulls (41-12) to concede ground again.

Earlier matches against Irish opposition this season saw the Sharks lose at Leinster (31-5) in Round 3 and at home to Ulster (34-26) in Round 4 whilst in Round 6 they crashed to a 44-17 loss away to Connacht.

Munster:

Munster come into the weekend sixth in the standings with a record of 8 wins and 4 defeats. They have 39 log points, 1 fewer than fifth place Cardiff and 2 shy of the Stormers, Ulster and Leinster who are 2nd, 3rd and 4th whilst the gap to leaders Glasgow Warriors is 6 points.

Recent results include a home win over Zebre (21-7) at the end of last month whilst at the end of January they lost 31-22 to the Warriors in Glasgow.  

One earlier match against South African opposition saw Munster go down 26-21 at home to the Stormers in Round 6, they will take on the Bulls at Loftus next week and in Round 18 they host the Lions.
