RACE 1
This is the first juvenile race in the Eastern Cape and the betting market will be the best guide. SILVA CITY is a daughter of Global View from the Alan Greeff yard and stable jockey Richard Fourie is booked to ride. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note.
SPORTS FAN hails from the Kelly Mitchley stable and she is a daughter of What A Winter. She is related to multiple winners including Rugger Lover and Rugger Bugger. Sandile Khathi is booked to ride and if not too green, she should run a big race.
INSTAWORTHY is a daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Gavin Smith stable with Gareth Wright in the saddle. She is related to five-time winner No Filter. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.
RACE 2
CHAMPONELLE has been disappointing in his last two starts in the Western Cape and he is having his first run for Cliffie Miller. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. If suited to the polytrack, he should return to best form.
WORLD SOPRANO has shown good improvement since relocating to the Eastern Cape. The son of One World will love the extra 100m on offer. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GRAND OASIS is having his first run for the Zietsman Oosthuizen yard. He showed good improvement when third over 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. .
RACE 3
This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is LOTUS ISLAND from the Justin Snaith yard. She should have finished closer to the winner over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She has scope and if taking to the polytrack, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
ACCUMULATE is a battling maiden, but ran a fair race when second over 1600m on this course last time. Donald Geerthsen retains the ride and she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
CHEAP THRILLS showed good improvement in her last start over 2200m on this course. The blinkers and tongue-tie seem to have done the trick. If confirming that effort, she would not be a shock winner.
RACE 4
OFFICIAL SECRET was an easy winner of her last start in the Betway Wedgewood Handicap. The 6yo mare is the stable elect with Richard Fourie retaining the ride. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she can follow up with another victory.
SPIN DOCTOR raced from a handy position over 2000m last time and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. The cheekpieces have done the trick and he is one of the leading contenders.
JUAN CARLOS finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
HOLLY‘S VIEW showed good signs of a form return last time. She lost a length leaving the start and finished off her race strongly. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, she should go close.
IQEMBULABESIFAZANE has shown signs of needing her last two starts. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. She is having her peak run today and would not be a shock winner.
KOMESANS PASSION finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 6
ARABIAN RED was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D. She set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Heavenly Blue is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. She jumps from a good draw of three and may be hard to peg back.
QUERANDI has finished third in her last two starts. She finished 0.75 lengths behind GET IT DONE in her penultimate run. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
GET IT DONE has very good recent form lines to her credit. She has won three times, finished second twice and third once from 11 starts over this distance. Chase Maujean is booked to ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
RACE 7
DESTINY‘S ANGEL set the pace over this distance on the turf last time and fought hard to hold all challengers at bay. He has won three times and finished second twice from seven starts over this trip. He returns from a well-deserved 11-week break. If not in need of the run, he can follow up.
DUBAI HILLS has finished third in his last two starts. He finished 6 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
MAKHACHEV was touched off in his last start over 1400m on this course. He finished 1.75 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
RACE 8
ARIVIDICIO was slow into stride over this C&D last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Flower Alley carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can notch up his third-career victory.
MASTER FORESTER finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
FLASH LIGHTNING ran a fair race in his post maiden effort. He finished 1 length behind the second choice that day. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may battle to turn the form around
