Race 1

KINSHIN SHA has been costly to follow in his last two starts over 1200m. He moved up like a winner last time, but was caught late by Circle Of Grace. The stable have opted to drop him to 1000m and the blinkers should sharpen him up. Craig Zackey retains the ride and the combination can make amends.

BABYLON showed good speed over 1200m on this course last time, tried hard but was touched off by Here With Me. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

KING HARRY is an unraced son of Noble Tune from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Marengo and Noble Striker. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

FLYING PUMA showed good pace over 1200m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Sunshine Day. She was reported to have made an abnormal respiratory noise and coughing that day. The daughter of Flying The Flag will enjoy the drop to 1000m and she may be the one to side with.

EMPRESS GAME stayed on when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She is back against her own sex this afternoon and is one of the leading contenders

POTATO SALAD ran a decent race on debut over 1200m. She found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. The daughter of Potala Palace would have gained from the experience and she should make the natural improvement

Race 3

ROYAL EDITION may not have seen out the 1700m in his last start. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. His penultimate run when second over 1400m catches the eye. If putting his best foot forward, he can shed his maiden tag.

BREATH OF MAGIC has decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back. 

TRIP TO STATES finished 2 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 4

EASY ON ME produced a decent debut effort over 1200m on this course. She jumped awkwardly when leaving the start, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1450m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat. 

LORNA LILLY has finished second in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed from pole position and can show.

RIGHT TURN ON RED has produced two fair efforts to date. The manner in which she finished off her last start suggests that she will love the rise to 1450m. If jumping on terms, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

ARUMUGAM ran a good race when second in the Grade 3 World Pool Gold Cup. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Piere Strydom takes the ride and if not in need of this outing, he should notch up his fifth career victory.

ZEUS won a good race in his last start over 2600m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

TWIN TURBO ran a fair race over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won once and finished third twice from seven starts on this course. He tries the 2400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should place.

Race 6

CLIFF HANGER ran a good race when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He raced from just off the pace, but was caught late by Ready To Charge. The son of Canford Cliffs would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. In this line-up, he can go one better. 

ROSE FOR TRIPPI finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

AUSSENKEHR showed good speed when winning his last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 4kgs off his back and he may be hard to peg back.

Race 7

COMING IN HOT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He challenged strongly in his last start, but was touched off by Whorly Whorly. Two of his four career victories have come over this distance and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

AFTER HOURS finished 3.2 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.

DARK TIDE is the stable companion of the top choice. He produced a strong finish when second over 1000m last time. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the pair must be included in all bets

Race 8

TWICE AS WILD showed signs of needing her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Twice Over is back against her own sex and with just 54.5kgs on her back, she can notch up her second career victory

 STORMY CHOICE has produced two decent efforts since winning her maiden. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

INVENTRIX stayed on when third over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She has finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. Piere Strydom takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most
