Race 1
This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is FIRE PHOENIX from the Gary Rich stable. She is much better than her last start as she was reported to be coughing and fatigued. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Her penultimate run when third over this distance catches the eye. If suited to the surface, she may be the one to cause the upset.
WITCHWOOD ran a good race over this distance on the turf last time, but found one too good in the form of Arverni Princess. Her best form has been with the blinkers fitted and if keeping on a straight line, she should pose a threat.
REGINA BELLISSIMA has produced two decent comeback runs on this course. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Calvin Habib takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 2
MAJORCA PALACE ran a fair race over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He finished 1.5 lengths behind ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA in his penultimate run. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is C&D suited and can return to winning ways.
WHAT A TIGER ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Esquevelle has come out and won again since. He is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA has good recent form lines to his credit. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. He always gives of his best and must be included in all bets
Race 3
KING BAVARIAN was doing his best work late when third over 1900m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Linngari meets the right field today and can shed his maiden tag.
GLOBAL RULER ran a fair race over 1600m on the turf last time. The son of Global View tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a threat.
HELL‘S BELLS finished 2.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
Race 4
FASHIONIGMA should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be steadied at the 200m mark. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has dropped to a competitive rating and with Richard Fourie retaining the ride, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
JOLLIFICATION finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
SHAKEN NOT STIRRED set the pace over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Rain Wear. She gets the services of Kobeli Lihaba and his 4kg claim should assist. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be hard to peg back.
Race 5
BANZAI PIPELINE was running on when fourth over 1800m on this course last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this distance. The 6yo gelding has dropped to a competitive rating and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can return to winning ways.
EVENTIDOR should have finished closer to the winner last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. With a bit of luck in running, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
BLAZING LIGHT is better than his last start on the turf. All three of his career victories have come on this course. On best form shown, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 6
KITTEN‘S ADVENTURE won a good race in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She has cracked a handy draw of five and can notch up her fourth career victory.
WRITTENINTHESAND fought hard for her last victory over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. She is back against her own sex and if suited to the surface, she should be competitive.
UMHLALI showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this distance on the turf. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If confirming her recent improvement, she can feature.
Race 7
QUANABI ran a decent race when fifth against male company in her last start over 1200m on the turf. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she had to be steadied for running room at the 50m mark. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the daughter of Querari. She is back against her own sex and from pole position, may be the one to side with.
FLOWER FESTIVAL ran a fair race in her last start over this C&D. She received a bump leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. She jumps from a good draw of four and is one of the leading contenders.
SHONA KIRSTY YVES has fair form lines to her credit. The daughter of Eightfold Path continues to drop in the ratings and with luck in running, she can earn a cheque for her patrons.
Race 8
WILLIAM RUFUS may not have seen out the mile last time as he lacked a finish in the latter stages. He has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. The son of William Longsword takes a drop-in class and from his good draw of four, he can return to winning ways.
JP TWO THOUSAND finished 0.3 lengths behind TIME TOGETHER last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
TIME TOGETHER ran a fair race over 1600m last time. He won a good race in his penultimate start over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination should be hard to peg back
