Race 1
SPRINGER showed good improvement when third over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Vercingetorix is progressive and will love the rise to 1600m. If not in need of the run, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
COURAGEOUS moved up like a winner last time, but was outrun late by Witblits. Philasande Mxoli retains the ride and she is one of the leading contenders.
HEART PEAKS finished 1.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
PURE PREDATOR ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Premiers Champion Stakes last time. He returns from a 14-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of New Predator finished second in his only attempt on this course. He may be in need of this outing, but he has the class to be competitive.
BEAMONESQUE was super-impressive when winning his maiden at the second time of asking. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
ZIYASHA ran on from last when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has work to do at the weights, but is in a good space and must be included in all bets.
Race 3
CHOCOLATE BOMB followed up his maiden win with a hard-fought victory over 1200m at the Vaal. The son of Lancaster Bomber was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag in his penultimate start over this distance on the Standside course. Despite his big mass, he is capable of notching up the hat-trick.
KINSHIN SHA was an easy winner when winning his maiden over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of What A Winter and he should give a good account of himself.
CORNWALL finished 4.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He is having his first run for the Robyn Klaasen stable and can show.
Race 4
COSMIC STAR showed good speed over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time, but was outrun late. He meets similar company and from his good draw of two, he may be hard to peg back.
SILVER TUDOR showed some signs of needing his comeback run over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Raven Black has come out and won again since. He will strip a much fitter horse today and is one of the leading contenders.
AMPERSAND was running on when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Meteoric has come out and won again since. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and should run a big race.
Race 5
ARIEL’S JET followed up her maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and she may be the one to side with.
IDEAL FUTURE was an easy winner of her last start over 2400m at the Vaal. She has won twice and finished third once from five starts over this distance. She will be mowing down the frontrunners and can follow up.
KIND JUDY finished 0.5 lengths behind BURMESE TIARA last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 6
SILVER SANCTUARY ran a good race when second against male company over 1700m on this course last time. She was slow into stride, but finished her race off strongly. The daughter of Silvano will be at home over 2000m. She drops in class and should take a power of beating.
DAMOSTAR produced a strong finish to win her last start over 1800m at the Vaal. She should have no issues with the extra furlong on offer and must be included in all bets.
QUIET REBELLION ran a good race when second in the Non-Black Type Allez France Stakes last time. She finished 4.25 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 7
RIVER QUERARESS returned to winning ways in her last start over this C&D. She found a good turn of foot late and got up where it matters most. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. She does take on stronger, but has found her confidence and can follow up under Kabelo Matsunyane.
WHAT A HONEY is better than her last start as she was reported to be fatigued. She has won twice from three starts over this distance. Her best form has been under Craig Zackey and the combination merit healthy respect.
I AM REGAL has good recent form lines to her credit. She does take on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 8
TRENTINO lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on well to finish fifth. She takes a drop-in class and should be at peak fitness. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause. If jumping on terms, she can return to winning ways.
PATON’S TEARS is better than her last two starts. It must be noted that multiple horses from her last form line have come out and won since. She drops in class and can find a form return.
PRIMROSE PATH was disappointing in her last start over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination cannot be ignored
