The latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the weekend 1st to 2nd July including Durban July horse racing and the Tour de France, plus an 11/1 acca with Betway
CHEETAHS KEEP ME AFLOAT
I often write about how I have become a more responsible punter over the years and it is true. Every now and again though I get a rush of blood to the head and I had one of those last week.
The Cheetahs -7.5 v the Pumas was the newsletter best bet and the plan was to have a 5 unit play. Problem is after a brilliant run I was leaking money back to the books and was getting frustrated in my search for form. My wife can confirm I was grumpy as hell!
I decided it was all or nothing and placed a 25 unit bet on the Cheetahs with a view that if it lost I would take a punting break. I had been on edge on previous bets but was relaxed (well sort of) as I watched the game leaving my fate with the punting gods, what will be will be.
Thank goodness the Cheetahs won by 8 and although I felt they were the far superior team I had to survive a missed penalty from the Pumas with 5 min to go.
DAUGHTER CUTS TO THE CHASE
Back in the game I got involved in Thursday u20 rugby action. I did ok focusing on unders but what ended up a good day could have been a great one as I missed a 44/1 unders acca by 1 leg – those bloody Baby Boks I have no idea how there was more than 57.5 points in those conditions.
My son (now 18) and I tried to explain to my daughter how close the bet which would have netted close to 13k profit had come but she stopped us midway and simply said “all I am hearing is you lost R300” – clever girl that!
DURBAN JULY
The Hollywoodbets Durban July stands alone as the biggest sporting and punting event in SA. We are always amazed at the interest and our You Tube and Goodforthegame previews go through the roof, the latter will end up anywhere between 30 and 80 times more read than our flagship rugby previews.

TOUR DE FRANCE: THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
Those who have been on Goodforthegame and this newsletter over the years will know that I love the Tour de France. I also love betting on it although to much smaller stakes than rugby.
Join me on a 3 week journey starting with this TDF Stage 1 Video preview where I also share longer term plays
TDF punters also note WSB are back with their excellent 2nd Place Promo – if you back a rider who runs 2nd you can get the stake back in free bets – T&Cs apply
Stay close to our TDF forum thread for views from other Punters and if you love the Tour I am trying out the Velogames Fantasy Comp

It is almost all HDJ and TDF on GFTG but for F1 fans there is a preview of the Austrian GP on the WSB blog
Have a great punting weekend and look out for an U20 World Rugby Champs preview on Monday night and of course we will be all over the Rugby Championship on Thursday nights THE HANDICAP – I have some firm views on this tournament and no doubt my guests will as well.
