RACE 1
STU’S GIRL hails from the visiting Candice Bass-Robinson stable. She stayed on at the finish over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time, but found one too good in the form of Roccapina. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She meets the right field and if all went well with her travels, she should shed her maiden tag.
PONTE VECCHIO showed pace over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Breede Baby. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KAROO BOKKIE was in need of her debut effort over this distance on the Polytrack. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can finish in the placings.
RACE 2
TURBO TWENTY should have finished closer to the winner over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time as he hung in the closing stages. The son of Canford Cliffs is coming along the right way and in this field, he should go one better.
AND ACTION found one too good in the form of Connection last time. He has finished second twice and third once from five starts over this distance. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
COLONEL GREEN raced from a handy position over 1100m on the Polytrack last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He finished third in his only C&D attempt and cannot be ignored.
RACE 3
FAMILY LAW is better than his last start in the Grade 1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes. His form prior to that outing, in the Eastern Cape was good. The son of Potala Palace will love the drop back to 1200m and he should be too good for this field.
MISTER SPEAKER followed up his maiden victory with a good fourth-place finish over 1400m in the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is having his first run for the Alan Greeff stable and is a big threat.
WALK WITH ME won a game race in his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He does take on stronger, but is a progressive type. If all went well with his travels, he should be competitive.
RACE 4
GIMME’S LADDIE was super-impressive when breaking the course record over this C&D last time. Despite being slow into stride, he drew clear in the closing stages. The son of Gimmethegreenlight received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. He takes another rise in class, but is above average and should notch up the hat-trick.
THE MAURITIAN set the pace over 1400m last time before getting caught late by Prevalence. The son of Vercingetorix should have no issues with the drop to 1200m as two of his three career victories have come over this distance.
PIROSHKA stayed on strongly when second over this C&D last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If all went well with his travels, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
FREE WORLD followed up her maiden victory with an encouraging fifth-place finish over 1200m on this course. She cost herself winning that day as she hung in the final 300m. The daughter of Rafeef has plenty of scope. If Denis Schwarz is able to keep her on a straight line alongside the inside running rail, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
COLD TRUTH raced from just off the pace over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish fourth. She would have come on from the run and should pose a massive threat.
BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be steadied and switched at the 300m mark. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. With luck in running, she can run into the money.
Race 6
BE REAL ran an encouraging race in her local debut effort over 2000m on the Polytrack. She was running on nicely at the finish that day and would have come on from the run. She should have no issues with the drop to 1600m as she has won over this distance previously. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
TIMBAVATI RIVER’S last three starts have been fair. He takes a drop in class and will be doing his best work at the finish.
MY BESTIE is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. He has finished third twice from as many starts over this C&D. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
RACE 7
JOY AND PEACE is a winner of her last four starts, the latest of which was in the Non-Black Type Walmer Handicap. She has won three times, finished second once and third once from seven starts on this course. If getting away to a clean start, she should be the one to beat.
GOLD POKER GAME cost herself winning last time as she hung in the final 300m. She won her only attempt on this course. Aldo Domeyer returns to the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.
FLOWER OF SAIGON won a good race in her last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, she can follow up with another victory.
RACE 8
ARIVIDICIO caught the eye when he ran on from far back over 1200m in his local debut. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He would have come on from that outing. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and can cause the upset.
GUERRA stayed on when third over 1300m on the Polytrack last time. He is back in Handicap Company and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
EL ROMIACHI stayed on when third over 1600m on the Polytrack last time. He takes a drop in class this afternoon. He is drawn wide in barrier 11 but gets the services of Luyolo Mxothwa who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle
