MAGICAL VIEW showed improvement when third in her last start over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Captain Of All is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
WOZA NAWE is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Peter Muscutt stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Tread Swiftly and Blackwhitedynamite. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
Race 2
GRAND OCCASION lost a length leaving the start on debut over 1000m, but the manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. The daughter of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and should love the extra furlong on offer. She faces Maiden Company this afternoon and is the horse to beat.
ETHEREAL VIEW has decent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last start has come out and won since. If not too green around the turn, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
EXTRACTION finished 3.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and she may have to settle for the same result. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she can finish in the placings.
Race 3
SWEET JULIA jumped inwards leaving the start over this distance on the polytrack last time and stayed on at the finish. Rachel Venniker is booked to ride and if getting away to a clean start, she may be the one to beat in this field.
EMERALD GREEN lost a length leaving the start last time and ran on strongly to finish third. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie retains the ride and if jumping on terms, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
HEAD GIRL finished 1.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.
Race 4
SPELLING BEE ran a decent race in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. The son of Futura is coming along the right way and if settled into his KZN base, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
RUN TO RIO has finished second in his last three starts over 1200m. The manner in which he has been finishing off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CAPTAIN MARSALA set the pace over this distance last time and stayed on to finish fourth. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He finished 2.2 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
RAFEEF’S CHOICE was running on when second over this distance last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Sean Veale is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
FORT J’ADORE should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the closing stages. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should pose a massive threat.
MISS GIBSON fought hard in her last start over 1600m. She has won once and finished second once from four starts over this distance. The 5yo mare is having her peak run today and with a bit of luck in running, she should be competitive.
Race 6
GLADATORIAN was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. He is the class horse in the race and is the horse to beat.
COIN SPINNER ran a good race when third over 1000m last time. Three of his six career victories have come over this C&D. Richard Fourie retains the ride and he is one of the leading contenders.
SWING UPON A STAR got up late to win his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Apprentice Kobeli Lihaba takes 1.5kgs off his back and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 7
CELESTIAL CITY produced an encouraging comeback run over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He lost a length leaving the start and finished off his race nicely. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has won four times and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. With just 53.5kgs on his back, he should be the one to beat.
LAGUNA VERDE set the pace over 1400m last time before getting outrun late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If all went well with his travels, he should pose a threat.
NARINA TROGON finished 1.4 lengths behind IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 8
MANIC MONDAY is better than her last two starts over further. She has finished second in both her efforts over this C&D. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and she will love the drop back to 1600m. From pole position, she should give the males a run for their money.
IRON WILL is a winner of his last two starts over 1400m. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. Rachel Venniker is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome his awkward draw and the pair may be hard to peg back.
TEICHMAN showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. Three of his seven career victories have come over this C&D. With luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 9
GALAXY EXPLORER stayed on when fifth over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He gets a change of headgear this afternoon which may do the trick. The son of Ideal World takes a drop in class and he may be the one to side with.
KHANYISA INDLELA ran on well when third in his last start over 1600m. He has cracked a good draw of four and with Rachel Venniker taking 1.5kgs off his back, he should be involved at the finish.
SAN MARZANO’S last three starts have been fair. The son of Pomodoro is having his first run for the Kumaran Naidoo stable. He should love the rise to 2000m and can finish in the placings
