RACE 1
FIRE ALARM produced a decent debut effort over 1200m on this course. She was slow into stride, but stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Fire Away would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with in this line-up.
CAN’T SAY NO finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
BLUEBERRY BLUE was in need of her debut effort over 1200m on the turf track. She would have come on from the run and should enjoy the extra furlong on offer. If not too green around the turn, she should have improvement to come.
RACE 2
HAVANA GREY produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. She showed good speed that day, but was caught late by Anuschka’s World. The daughter of Heavenly Blue was reported to be coughing that day. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
FIVE STAR MAGIC is better than her last start over 1400m on the turf. Her previous two outings when second were encouraging. If suited to the Polytrack surface, she should be involved at the finish.
BELLA ATTRICE showed good speed in a work riders contest last time, but was caught late. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili and may be hard to peg back.
RACE 3
PRINCESS VIRGINIE showed good improvement in her local debut over 1200m on this course. She raced from a handy position and rallied late to finish third. The daughter of Vercingetorix tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be the one to beat in this line-up.
CICADIDAE’S last start must be ignored as she was reported to be coughing and cut into on her left hind. The daughter of Querari steps up to the mile and from her good draw of three, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
ROYAL VENUS finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
RACE 4
ANIARA showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this distance on the turf. She was slow into stride, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and from pole position, she can go one better.
EXECUTOR finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
SI GIOCA stayed on when fourth over 1300m on this course last time. She has finished second in both her efforts over this C&D. The daughter of Danon Platina is back against her own sex and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
DUKE OF ORANGE finished 0.5 lengths behind JOYOUS JUBILEE last time. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Both his career victories have come on this course. He jumps from a good draw of three and with his light mass of 48kgs, he can return to winning ways.
JOYOUS JUBILEE set the pace and held on where it matters most when winning his last start over 1300m on this course. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and may be hard to peg back.
FOREST SPY was running on when second over this distance on the turf last time. He is a much better horse on the turf but Craig Zackey may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 6
MY BEST SHOT was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this distance on the turf last time. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Fire Away takes on much stronger, but he has plenty of scope. If suited to the polytrack surface, he can follow up with another victory.
WIND SOCK has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has won once and finished second three times from nine starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PASHTUNWALI finished 2.9 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.
RACE 7
UNITED EXPRESS is a winner of her last three starts. She fought hard for her last victory over this distance on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She won her only attempt over this C&D. From her good draw of three, she should be hard to beat.
AERIAL VIEW ran a good race when third over this distance on the turf last time. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
CHRONICLESOFNANIA finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and she may battle to turn the form around.
RACE 8
HAROLD THE DUKE finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Duke Of Marmalade should have no issues with the rise to 2200m and if getting away to a clean start, he may be the one to beat.
PUERTO PLATA is a winner of his last two starts. The son of Manipulator should love the rise to 2200m. He does have a wide draw of 12 to overcome but he gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
GREAT AFFAIR ran a good race when third in the Non-Black Type Glenlair Trophy last time. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved at the finish
