Race 1
TEQUILA SKY ran a good race in her last start over 1200m on this course. She challenged strongly all the way to the line, but was outrun late. The daughter of William Longsword drops to 1000m and the blinkers will sharpen her up. She is the stable elect with Corne Orffer up and she can shed her maiden tag.
STRATA has been costly to follow, but she has consistent form lines to her credit. She has finished second three times and third twice from seven starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LUCY ROCKET produced an encouraging debut effort over this C&D. She raced green but she stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.
Race 2
SOOTY showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Pathfork is a progressive type and in this field, he may be the one to side with.
TAMBOURINE MAN raced from just off the pace last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Guarding The Wall. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL is still a maiden after 22 starts, but her last outing over this C&D was decent. She received a bump leaving the start that day, but stayed on at the finish. Richard Fourie retains the ride and she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 3
HEKNOWS showed good improvement in his last start over 1600m on this course. He raced from a prominent position, but found one too good in the form of Holding Thumbs. The 5yo gelding meets a weak field and from his good draw of three, he can shed his maiden tag.
JOIN THE DOTS is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Brett Crawford stable with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
IN THE BAG finished 4.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Gimmethegreenlight can finish in the placings in this line-up.
Race 4
F EIGHT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She was running on when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Futura is in a good space and in this line-up, she may be the one to side with.
COSMIC ENERGY showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m. She was slow into stride, but stayed on at the finish. She carries another handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and if confirming her recent improvement, she should feature.
TRUE HORIZON finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
FAIRFIELD finished 1.25 lengths behind DREAM SEARCHER last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1800m. The daughter of Futura is having her peak run and if getting off to a clean start, she should be the one to beat.
DREAM SEARCHER showed good improvement in her last start over 1600m on this course. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. She carries another handy galloping mass of 53kgs and can go close.
DAWN CLOUD has improved in his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1800m. He may be the first male past the finishing post.
Race 6
SLURRICANE produced an encouraging return to the races after 37 weeks off the track. He raced from a prominent position over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. He won his penultimate effort over this C&D. The son of Vercingetorix will strip a much fitter horse. He is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
LIKETHECLAPPERS finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
DE JANEIRO is better than her last two starts. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She has dropped to a competitive rating and with luck in running, she may be the one to cause the upset.
Race 7
WINTER RAINFALL is the best bet on the programme. She quickened up well and won going away over 1000m on this course last time. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of What A Winter should have no issues with the rise to 1200m. She is in a good space and should follow up.
FLYING V stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Miss Greenlight. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KNOCKOUT produced a strong finish to win her last start over this C&D. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. She has a good turn of foot and can go close
Race 8
PALO QUEEN has good recent form lines to her credit. She showed good speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Winter Rainfall. She takes a drop-in class and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
SILVER SCREEN finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
EASY MONEY showed some signs of a form return over 1100m on this course last time. Both her career victories have come over this C&D. On her best form shown, she may be involved in the fight to the finish
