BettingDiaryThe PGA Tour heads to Illinois and the TPC Deere Run Course in Silvis this week and we select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.

The TPC Deere Run is a par 71 layout but is one of the easier courses on the PGA tour. Players cannot afford an off round at a tournament like this as coming from off the pace will be tough. The most important stats here is Greens in Regulation and of course you need to have a hot putter. There have been some changes to the course this year so it may play a bit tougher

Webb Simpson tops the betting boards at 14/1 in what looks a weak field by PGA Tour standards. Adam Hadwin at 20/1 is next in the betting and you can find the first South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout at 35/1.

SELECTIONS:

Adam Hadwin each way at 20/1

Hadwin hasn’t played this course since 2016 when he finished in the Top 10 and in his only other appearance he finished Top 20 the year before so he clearly has a liking for it. Hadwin has been in fine form of late and finished in the Top 10 in the US Open and had a Top 20 finish two starts before that. He has the sort of game needed on a course like this where regular supply of birdies is a must. The field isn’t the strongest and Hadwin can go close this week.

Martin Laird each way at 66/1

Laird has reasonable course form with a Top 30 and a Top 40 finish in the last two years. What caught my eye though was his 13th place finish last week, his best performance in quite a while and he looks like a man who might be running into some form.

Nick Hardy each way at 35/1

Nick Hardy has been prominent both of the last two weeks finishing 14th at the US Open and in 8th place last week. He also had a runner-up finish four starts back and he is certainly one of the form men in this event. Hardy hasn’t played the Tournament for a couple of years having made the cut in both previous starts and given the way he is playing he looks an attractive betting proposition.

Sean O’Hair each way at 175/1

What’s that, you want a triple winner figure winner well how about Sean O’Hair a man who has been in the golfing doldrums for some time.

O’Hair popped up last year with an 11th place finish suggesting he has finally got the measure of the course having missed 5 out of 6 cuts prior to that. O’Hair’s recent form is not much to write home about, but he does have a Top 5 finish to his credit a few starts back and as someone who has been watching golf for many years I just remember what a quality player he was 10 to 15 years ago. I am going to back him to roll back the clock this week.
