The next round of PSL action gets off to an excellent start with SuperSport United hosting Mamelodi Sundowns in the Pretoria Derby on Friday night. We take a look at the game from a betting angle.
Let’s start with an update on the DSTV Premiership Outright Betting where Mamelodi Sundowns are 4/10 to win yet another title. Orlando Pirates are second favourites at 7/1, you can get 12/1 Chiefs and AmaZulu, 14/1 Royal AM and 28/1 TS Galaxy. SuperSport are way down in the betting at 100/1.

SuperSport United have got off to a very slow start this season and currently sit 14th out of 16 on the log with 5 points from their opening 5 matches. The good news for their fans though is that they did win their last start 1-0 at Richards Bay and their last home game was a goalless draw against Orlando Pirates. Goals have been hard to come by for SuperSport United and they have only scored 3 times in their 5 matches.
Mamelodi Sundowns currently sit second on the table with 10 points from their 5 games and they have only tasted defeat once and that was at home to TS Galaxy in Round 2 where they lost 1-0. Last time out they were too strong for Stellenbosch winning 3-0 at home and their last away game was a 1-1 draw at Sekhukhune. Two of the five Mamelodi Sundowns games have reached the 3 goal mark this season while only 1 of the 5 SuperSport matches has breached the 2.5 barrier.
Sundowns won this fixture 1-0 last season and the other fixture classified as a Sundowns home game finished 2-2. SuperSport haven't beaten Sundowns in the League since a 2-0 win back in April of 2019.

SuperSport United 15/4
Draw 95/40
Mamelodi Sundowns 17/20
Suggested Bet: The draw at 95/40
SuperSport have shown improved form in their last 2 games and Sundowns for me haven't been quite at their best this season. The draw has been a common result when these sides have played and 2 of the last 4 fixtures have finished level.
If you are a punter looking at the goal markets over 2.5 goals is trading at 5/4, but it is hard to justify this punt based on SuperSport matches which have not even averaged 2 goals each this season. If I were to go for a correct score punt here it would be a 1-1 draw priced at 9/2. Personally I think it is better value just to take the straight draw result getting the 0-0 draw running for you as well.
