SUNDAY

SOUTHAMPTON v WOLVES

Both these sides have got off to a slow start to the new season and Southampton sit 15th on 4 points from 5 matches with Wolves a point behind them, in 16th, having also played 5 games.

Southampton opened their campaign with a 3-1 away loss at Everton and have subsequently drawn 4 in a row. Their last 2 games were goalless draws at home to West Ham and away at Manchester City.

Wolves started their campaign with 3 successive defeats before beating Watford 2-0 on the road, they then lost 2-0 at home to Brentford in their last start and those 2 goals against Watford are the only time they have found the back of the net this season.

Southampton 33/20

Draw 9/4

Wolves 37/20

Suggested Bet: The draw at 9/4

Both these sides are battling and I am expecting a tied game with very little between the sides. Under 2.5 goals also appeals at 7/10, but I think the value lies in backing the draw.

ARSENAL v TOTTENHAM

Arsenal are 13th on the table, 6 positions behind Tottenham after 5 matches, but they head in here with far better momentum than their opponents. The Gunners lost their opening 3 matches, but have subsequently bounced back with a home win over Norwich and an away win over Burnley, both by 1-0 margins. Had you been backing both teams to score in the 5 Arsenal matches to date, you would have lost your money on each occasion.

Tottenham, by contrast opened their campaign with 3 victories, but have now had back-to-back defeats, 3-0 to Crystal Palace away and by the same score line to Chelsea at home. As with Arsenal all 5 of Tottenham’s matches have seen only one side find the net.

Looking at recent head-to-head between the sides Arsenal won this fixture 2-1 last season with Tottenham winning 2-0 at home.

In contrast to their current League stats both teams have found the net in 5 of the last 6 League fixtures between the sides.

Arsenal 5/4

Draw 47/20

Tottenham 23/10

Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 19/20

We have had some excellent derby matches between these sides over recent years and this bet would have arrived the last 3 times Arsenal have hosted Tottenham and I am going to bet on history over current form here.

MONDAY NIGHT

CRYSTAL PALACE v BRIGHTON

Palace are 14th on the log heading into the weekend on 5 points from 5 matches. They lost 3-0 away at Liverpool last time out and that was on the back of their first win of the season 3-0 at home to Tottenham. Their other home game was a goalless draw against Brentford.

Brighton have made a strong start with 4 wins and a loss in their opening 5 games and they sit 4th on the log going into this round of fixtures. They had an impressive 2-1 home win over Leicester last time out and their 2 away games have seen them beat Brentford 1-0 and Burnley 2-1.

Crystal Palace 39/20

Draw 22/10

Brighton 31/20

Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 19/20

Bookmakers are expecting a cagey affair here, but I actually think we are going to get goals at both ends.
