BettingDiaryThe Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina plays host to the Wyndham Championship which gets going on Thursday and we select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.

Sedgefield Country Club is a par 70 layout and it is a course which favours accuracy over distance which is why we often find the long hitters sitting this one out. Finding a good position in the fairway is important as the greens are small and they are also quick and it is the type of course where a player can go very low if he hits a purple patch.

Webb Simpson tops the betting boards at 12/1 ahead of Hideki Matsuyama 14/1, South African, Louis Oosthuizen is 18/1 and you can get 22/ 1 and better the balance.

SUGGESTED BETS:

Webb Simpson each way at 12/1

Simpson absolutely loves this track and has 4 consecutive Top 3 finishes without managing to get a victory although he did win here back in 2011. He put in a solid enough performance last week finishing 15th and given this is not the strongest field warrants his spot at the top of the betting boards.

Kevin Kisner each way at 50/1

Kisner hasn’t been in the greatest form of late and he finished outside the Top 60 last week, but it wasn’t that long ago that he was ticking off a couple of Top 10 and Top 5 finishes. What gets my attention here though is his course form with 3 Top 10’s in his last 4 starts including a 3rd place finish last season, he clearly loves the track and getting a decent price on him.

Sungjae Im each way at 30/1

Like Kisner, Im has an excellent record here and in 2 starts he has finished 6th and 9th with the 9th place finish coming last year. Im hasn’t been at his best in recent weeks, but has had a couple of credible finishes leading up to this event and I am expecting his game to come good.

Rory Sabbatini each way at 90/1

I like to go for a South African in my selections and of course Rory no longer plays for us, but he is coming off a silver medal for his adopted country in Tokyo. We know then that his game is in good shape but he also has an excellent record here and although he missed the cut last year he had prior to that 3 Top 10 finishes in his previous 4 starts.
