Newcastle

Newcastle had to settle for a 2-2 draw away to relegation threatened Leeds last weekend whilst in their most recent home game they went down 2-0 to Arsenal. They come into this game in third spot, level on points with Man United and now just 1 clear of fifth placed Liverpool . Klopp's side have played 1 game more so this is essentially Newcastle's game in hand over them and after this they host Leicester (who will need something from the game to have any hope of avoiding relegation) and they finish up away to Chelsea.

Brighton

Brighton are sixth, 7 points behind fifth placed Liverpool but including this game they still have 4 fixtures remaining and the Europa League or Europa Conference league are the most realistic of their ambitions of a memorable season. Last weekend they bounced back from a shock 5-1 home defeat to Everton with a 3-0 win at Arsenal, pretty much ending the Gunners title hopes.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting between the sides this season took place in mid August and it finished without a goal.

Last season Newcastle won this fixture 2-1 and the teams drew 1-1 at Brighton.

Newcastle are currently even money to win the game with the draw at 28/10 and Brighton can be backed at around 5/2

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 6/10 and it's 5/10 for both teams to score.

Callum Wilson is 37/10 to score the first goal of the game and even money to score anytime

The Verdict:

As we saw at Arsenal last weekend Brighton can be most threatening when teams come at them and Newcastle will have to be on their game here.

The goals markets odds suggest we should see plenty, I sort of agree although I have battled to call Brighton matches correctly in recent weeks.

After much consideration I will go with both sides to score in the second half whilst the goalscorer interest is for Mitoma to pop up any time for the visitors
