Everton 61/10 Draw 4/1 Liverpool 4/10

Everton come into the game still looking for a first league win but having lost their first 2 matches at home to Chelsea (1-0) and at Villa (2-1) they have steadied the ship to some degree with 3 successive draws. A home game against Forest and road trips to Brentford and most recently Leeds all finished 1-1. Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye plus James Garner joined in the transfer window and Alastair Gordon remains Everton property.

After taking just 2 points from their first 3 matches Liverpool clicked into gear with a 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth at Anfield last weekend and in midweek a last gasp goal gave them a 2-1 home win over Newcastle. Prior to that Liverpool had lost 2-1 at Manchester United, drawn 1-1 at home to Palace and 2-2 at Fulham. Arther Melo was a transfer deadline day recruit on loan from Juventus to bolster the midfield with Henderson having joined the injured list. Darwin Nunez I available after suspension.

Verdict:

It's a derby and Everton have looked better in the last couple of games but I believe Liverpool will have their number and I take the visitors be the only side to score.

Aston Villa 7/1 Draw 44/10 Manchester City 7/20

Steve Gerrard is a coach under pressure at Villa with his side having started the season with just the 1 win alongside 4 defeats. Losses at Bournemouth (2-0) and Palace (3-1), at home to West Ham (1-0) and most recently at Arsenal (2-1) leave Villa with just the 3 points earned from a 2-1 home win over Everton in the second round of matches. Late transfer business included the arrivals of Jan Bednarek from Southampton on loan and Leander Dendoncker joined from Wolves.

Meanwhile City have 4 wins and a 3-3 draw at Newcastle to show for their efforts so far. Haaland is on fire with back to back hat tricks in home wins over Palace (4-2) and Nottingham Forest (6-0) as second place City (2 points behind Arsenal) have found the net 19 times in 5 league outings. Defender Manuel Akanji joined from Dortmund on transfer deadline day.

Verdict:

My main concern with City matches is second guessing the line up. Many thought Haaland would be benched in midweek but that was not the case and now he is on a hat trick of hat tricks so to speak, it could spell trouble for Villa.

I'm with City to score 3 goals or more.

De Bruyne was on the bench against Forest and hence I suspect he will start here and hopefully pop up with a goal.

Bets: Away team totals over 2.5 at 23/20

Anytime goalscorer De Bruyne at 1.84/1
