arsenal1819A number of very significant English Premier League matches take place on Sunday and in this preview we focus on Aston Villa v Chelsea, Leeds v Arsenal and Manchester United v Newcastle

Leeds 4.54/1 Draw 3.35/1 Arsenal 11/20

After a promising start to the season Leeds have stalled somewhat and their last 5 league matches have delivered 2 draws and 3 defeats which means they have slipped below half way in the standings with 9 points from 8 matches. They are unbeaten at Elland Road with wins over Wolves and Chelsea and draws with Everton and Villa.

Arsenal maintained their 1 point lead over Manchester City at the top of the standings when they beat Liverpool 3-2 at the Emirates last weekend. Prior to that they were 3-1 winners at home to Spurs and they now have 8 wins and 1 defeat against their name. After starting with 5 straight wins their only blemish came in a 3-1 loss away to Manchester United.

Verdict:

Although Leeds are unbeaten at home they come up against an Arsenal side who have looked the real deal this season and it will take a huge effort from the home side to prevent the Gunners winning again.

I'm with the visitors but paying some respect to the Leeds record at Elland Road I will chance my arm they can contribute to the scoring.

Bets: Match result and both teams to score?, away win and yes at 2/1.

Aston Villa 3.45/1 Draw 2.72/1 Chelsea 8/10

Villa are unbeaten in their last 4 although 3 of those games finished all square. Their 2 league wins this season came at Villa Park, against Everton (2-1) in their first home game and more recently against Southampton (1-0). Villa also held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at this venue but they did lose 1-0 to West Ham.

Chelsea are improving and they have won each of their last 4 across all competitions. Recent league games saw them win at Palace (2-1) and at home to Wolves (3-0) whilst in the UCL they completed back to back wins over AC Milan, 3-0 at home and 2-0 in Italy. Chelsea come into the round in fourth spot in the standings, 9 points off the pace but with 1 game in hand.

Verdict:

Villa are generally finding goals hard to come by but they did score and take a point from City's visit to this ground. Meanwhile Chelsea are gathering momentum by the week, the visitors are the form choice and I'm hoping for another away win in a game where both sides find the net.

Bets: Match result and both teams to score?, away win and yes at 2.85/1

Manchester United 19/20 Draw 28/10 Newcastle 2.65/1

After crashing to a 6-3 defeat in the Manchester derby at City United bounced back with a 2-1 win at Everton last weekend. They have won 5 of their last 6 league outings including home games against Liverpool (2-1) and Arsenal (3-1) and they come into the round in fifth spot with 15 points.

Newcastle are 1 point behind United although they have played 1 game more. They have been among the goals in winning their last 2 matches, 4-1 at Fulham and 5-1 at home to Brentford. Their overall record comprises of 3 wins, 5 draws and their only defeat came at Liverpool where a very late goal saw them go down 2-1.

Verdict:

United have yet to draw a league game butt Newcastle are no strangers to finishing all square and looking at the match result quotes I give the visitors a sporting chance of taking a point.

Bets: Match result draw at 28/10
