Brentford 4/1 Draw 29/10 Chelsea 13/20

Brentford bounced back from a mini slump in form when they were 2-0 winners at home to Brighton on Friday of last week. Two more goals for Toney saw Brentford move back into mid table, now with 13 points from 10 matches. The clean sheet would have been most welcome as Brentford had been shipping goals in a couple of recent defeats, 3-0 at home to Arsenal and 5-1 at Newcastle. Of their 13 points 10 have been earned in home games with Manchester United (4-0) and Leeds (5-2) having lost at this venue.

Chelsea are on a 5 match winning streak which comprises of 3 league wins and victory home and away to AC Milan in the UCL. They were 2-0 winners at Villa on Sunday whilst a visit to Palace in their most recent away fixture finished 2-1 in their favour. Chelsea finished the previous round of matches in fourth spot, 4 points behind Spurs and Manchester City and 8 shy of Arsenal. Chelsea have a game in hand on the 3 sides above them and Arsenal and City are not in midweek action.

Verdict:

Although they couldn't lay a glove on Arsenal at this venue hosting top clubs is something Brentford really enjoy and on their day they are capable of giving Chelsea a game. However Chelsea are in good nick right now and I will side with the visitors to edge it by a single goal margin.

Manchester United 5/4 Draw 26/10 Spurs 19/10

United played out a 0-0 draw at home to improving Newcastle on Sunday. That was their first draw of a season which has also delivered 5 wins and 3 defeats and they finished the round in fifth spot, 11 points behind Arsenal (with a game in hand). United have beaten Liverpool (2-1) and Arsenal (3-1) at Old Trafford this season.

Spurs were 2-0 winners at home to Everton on Saturday, their seventh win of the season alongside 2 draws and their only league defeat came in the derby away to Arsenal, 3-1. Earlier road trips delivered draws in other London derby matches, at Chelsea (2-2) and West Ham (1-1) . They have won 2-0 at Forest and more recently 1-0 at Brighton

Verdict:

Recent meetings have been high on goals with United winning this fixture 3-2 last season whilst in 2020/21 Spurs pulled off a 6-1 victory at Old Trafford. I'm not so sure we will see that sort of goal deluge here but it should be a decent watch.

I was on the mark with a draw in the United v Newcastle game on Sunday, a rare highlight as my form has been poor recently. I can see this one also finishing all square.
