Aston Villa 33/10 Draw 2.65/1 Arsenal 17/20

After taking 10 points from 4 matches in January Villa have suffered back to back defeats, losing 4-2 at home to Leicester and then 3-1 away to Manchester City. They are still comfortable in mid table with 28 points as Unai Emery prepares to take on his former club.

Arsenal were knocked off top spot in midweek when they went down 3-1 at home to Manchester City. They now trail City on goal difference but still have 1 game in hand as they bid to end a sequence of 2 defeats and 1 draw in their last 4 outings.

The Verdict

Arsenal gave as good as they got in the home defeat to City, a controversial Brentford equalizer denied them victory prior to that but the 1-0 defeat at Everton in their most recent road trip would be a concern.

The Gunners have to show character now and Villa don't keep that many clean sheets. I fancy goals and over 2.5 is my play.

Everton 1.46/1 Draw 23/10 Leeds 39/20

This is a huge game with Everton third from bottom and hosting a Leeds side 1 place and 1 point better off.

Sean Dyche has overseen a 1-0 home win over Arsenal followed by a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool. The shock win over Arsenal is their only 3 point haul in their last 10 league games and their goals scored tally of 16 is the lowest in the top flight.

Leeds are without a win in 9 games, they have drawn 4 of those matches including sharing 4 goals with Manchester United at Old Trafford in their most recent road trip. They lost to the same opposition, 2-0 at home last weekend and at the time of writing were still searching for a replacement after sacking Jesse Marsch before the double header with Man United.

The Verdict

I would find it hard to back either side to win with any sort of confidence and this smacks of a draw to me.

Newcastle 1.52/1 Draw 5/2 Liverpool 1.72/1

Newcastle's only league defeat this season came 2-1 at Anfield at the end of August. They come into the weekend in fourth spot, 5 points behind third placed Manchester United (with a game in hand) and 10 points off City and Arsenal. They have drawn 5 of their last 6 (3 of those matches finished without a goal) and they have only scored 4 league goals in their last 8 EPL outings.

Liverpool's 2-0 home win over Everton ended a run of 3 defeats and 1 draw in their previous 4 matches. Their last 3 road trips saw them concede 3 goals in each of their defeats at Brentford, Brighton and Wolves. Firmino and Jota came off the bench in the derby last week after their respective injuries and Van Dijk is also back in the squad. Liverpool finished the previous round in ninth spot, 9 points behind Newcastle but with a game in hand.

The Verdict

Liverpool should be able to field their strongest line up for some time and they now come up against a Newcastle side who can keep it ultra tight and are not in the habit of losing football matches.

Some wretched away form needs to be forgiven but with some big guns back in the fold I'm with the visitors.

Bets: Liverpool to win at 1.72/1
