Newcastle 29/20 Draw 26/10 Arsenal 37/20

Newcastle made it 8 wins from the last 9 league games with a come from behind 3-1 win at home to Southampton last week. They come into the weekend program in third spot with 65 points from 33 games, 12 points behind second placed Arsenal with a game in hand. More significantly Newcastle are now 2 points clear of fourth placed Manchester United (who have also played 33 matches) and they are 6 better off than fifth placed Liverpool who have played 1 game more.

Arsenal returned to the top of the standings with a comfortable 3-1 win at home to Chelsea on Monday. However City's home win over West Ham on Wednesday saw the lead change hands again and Arsenal are 1 point behind and City also have a game in hand. City are at home to Leeds on Saturday where they will expect 3 points and Arsenal, who ended a 4 match winless run with that victory over Chelsea, have no margin for error in their last 4 matches.

The Verdict

When the teams met at the Emirates in early January the game finished without a goal. I fancy Newcastle would be happy enough with a point again but they have breathing space over top 4 rivals and I fancy they will go for it and Arsenal need the win.

I'm with Newcastle to chalk up 7 corners or more. Elsewhere, Jesus was on target for me in midweek and I will stick with him to provide the anytime goalscorer interest.

West Ham 23/10 Draw 27/10 Man United 23/20

West Ham were hit by illness to key players before their midweek 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, a third straight loss after a 4-3 defeat at Palace and 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool. Coming into the weekend program they were sixth from bottom with 4 points worth of daylight over Leicester, Leeds, and Forest, 5 clear of Everton and 10 in front of bottom of the table Southampton.

United went down to a late penalty at Brighton on Thursday and another defeat here would have them looking over their shoulders with Liverpool in action a day before this match and Brighton will play on Monday. Prior to that loss at Brighton United had taken 13 points from the last 15 available in the EPL.

The Verdict

United won the first league meeting this season 1-0 and they also beat West Ham 3-1 at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. The West Ham team news will be worth keeping an eye on, if they are at near enough full strength they could cause United problems and they still need another win or so somewhere along the line to make sure they are safe.

I'm on the fence between unders and overs (2.5) and hence will go with 2-3 goals in total.
