Liverpool

Liverpool were 7-1 winners away to Glasgow Rangers in midweek, putting them on course to qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds. Focus switches back to the EPL and Liverpool come into this round of matches in mid table with 10 points from 8 matches and all of 14 points off the pace being set by Arsenal.

Liverpool were beaten 3-2 by the Gunners in London last weekend whilst their most recent home game saw them play out a 3-3 draw with Brighton. Palace also drew here earlier in the season whilst Bournemouth were thrashed 9-0 and Newcastle lost 2-1.

Man City

City remain unbeaten with 7 wins and 2 draws and they are 1 point behind Arsenal in the title race. The only league points they have dropped this season came away to Newcastle (3-3) and Villa (1-1) and in their last 3 league outings they have won at Wolves (3-0) and at home to Manchester United (6-3) and Southampton (4-0).

Qualification for the Champions League was assured in midweek when they drew 0-0 at Copenhagen, a game where several regulars included Haaland were rested and City played an hour or so with 10 men.

Recent Head to Head

Liverpool won the Community Shield at the start of this season, beating City 3-1.

Last season Liverpool won the FA Cup semi final against City 3-2 at Wembley whilst both league games finished 2-2.

Liverpool are currently 3/1 to win the game with the draw at 31/10 and Man City can be backed at around 8/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 9/20 and it's a similar price for both teams to score.

Haaland is 24/10 to score the first goal and 6/10 to score any time

Mo Salah is 6/1 to score the first goal and 2/1 to score any time

The Verdict:

The midweek UCL win in Glasgow is a timely boost for Liverpool who's league form has been way below par and defensively they have often been unusually shaky. Injury to Luis-Diaz is another blow for Liverpool but there is no question marks over their remaining firepower and I expect them to give City a game.

Draws in the head to heads have been pretty common in recent seasons although it's a bold call to oppose City in any shape or form right now. I'm looking to the any time goalscorer markets and whilst Haaland will be all the rage he reportedly finished last week's win over Southampton pretty tired and my preference, at the prices, is for Phil Foden.

In the same market I've had joy with Darwin Nunez in his last 2 matches and will back him to add to his tally.

I'm also going to include both teams to score in both halves of football.

Bets: 2 or more goals to be scored in both halves? (yes) at 24/10

Anytme goalscorer Phil Foden at 2/1

Anytme goalscorer Darwin Nunez at 2/1
