KAPTEIN was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1950m at Kenilworth. He set the pace and won with a ton in hand. The son of Captain Al tries the 2400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can follow up.

SENSO UNICO has run two decent races to date. He was slow into stride over 1400m last time, but ran on well to finish third. It must be noted that Debonair has come out and won again since. The son of Twice Over will love the rise to the mile and with Anton Marcus in the saddle, he should be the one to beat.

CAPTAIN’S RANSOM was a tad disappointing in the Grade 1 Garden Province Stakes last time. The classy daughter of Captain Al returns from a 13-week break which would have done her the world of good. She is unbeaten from two starts on this course, including a victory in this race last year. She races well fresh and should notch up her seventh career victory.

HELEN’S BLUSH is much better than her last start over 2400m. She returns from a 14-week break which may have done her the world of good. Her penultimate effort when finishing second over this distance at Kenilworth was encouraging. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She jumps from pole position and if not in need of the run, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure
