Race 1

WARWICK is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win a race of this nature and pole position is a big plus. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

GUARDING THE WALL had to overcome a wide draw in his last start and weakened in the straight. His penultimate run when fourth over this C&D was encouraging. From his good draw of three, he should be the first raced runner past the post.

HARD WINTER finished 0.4 lengths behind BARNBOUGLE last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 2

GREAT CAT showed good improvement in her last start over 1000m on this course. She showed good speed that day, but found one too good in the form of Warm Winter Nite. The daughter of Dynasty is a progressive type and in this line-up, she should go one better.

LOOK FORWARD has had to contend with a wide barrier position in her last two starts. She has finished second once and third once from three starts over this C&D. She has cracked pole position and is one of the leading contenders.

MONTREAL is much better than her last start. It must be noted that Go Like Flo has come out and won again since. On best form shown, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

PINEAPPLEMINTGREEN has improved in her last two starts over 1250m on this course. She got going too late when second behind Girl Like Us last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1400m and it is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer retains the ride. From her good draw of two, she should shed her maiden tag.

ICE RAIN is better than her last start over 1250m on this course. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D was encouraging. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should pose a massive threat.

LOREINA ran a fair race on debut over 1250m on this course. She lost a length at the start, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. She would have come on from the run and she should make the natural improvement.

Race 4

ELLORIX stayed on at the finish over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Ticket To Vegas. The daughter of Vercingetorix steps up to the 1800m which will suit her well. She is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Aldo Domeyer who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

ENCHANTING CHOICE finished 2.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

ANALYTIC was doing her best work late when 4 lengths behind the winner over 1400m last time. She is back against her own sex and will be at home over this distance. She is having her peak run and can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 5

ETOILEFILLANTE showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m on this course. He stayed on at the finish that day, but found one too good in the form of Master Of Paris. The son of Duke Of Marmalade will love the extra furlong on offer. He will strip a much fitter horse and can go one better.

FLY FUTURA was in need of his debut effort over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression under Aldo Domeyer.

DESTINY’S ANGEL ran a fair race in his comeback run over this C&D, despite racing wide around the turn. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. In this field, he can finish in the placings.

Race 6

GENTLEMAN JOE ran on from last when third over 2000m on this course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The drop back to the mile should not pose a concern and in this line-up, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

INCREDIBILL showed some signs of needing his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He takes a drop- in class and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should pose a massive threat.

CAPTIVE MOON stayed on when fifth over 1400m on this course last time. The removal of the blinkers seems to have done the trick on the 5yo gelding. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

BONANZA ran a good race when second over this C&D last time, in this class. He returns from a 10-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. He jumps from a handy draw of three and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

WILLIAM WEST showed good speed when winning his maiden over this C&D. The son of William Longsword would have gained confidence from that outing and should have more to come.

WYLIE JACK finished 1 length behind ELUSIVE TRADER last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.

Race 8

RAF’S ROCKET was given a peach of a ride when winning his maiden over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Rafeef takes a rise in class, but he looks to be above average and should be up to the task at hand.

WINTER PEARL tried hard in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Liketheclappers. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the son of What A Winter. He meets similar company this afternoon and is one of the leading contenders.

MIGHTY MAC finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 9

MICHAEL FARADAY ran a good race when fourth over 1600m on this course last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The drop to 1400m is no concern and against similar company, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

FAIRE ADVANTAGE finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

QUERANDI is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. She returns from an 11-week break, which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of Querari has plenty of scope and if not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself
