Race 1

GLADATORIAN showed good guts and determination when winning at the second time of asking over 1200m. He was reported to have cast a shoe in running which makes the victory that much more encouraging. The son of Vercingetorix will enjoy the drop to 1100m and he is capable of following up.

QUESTION MASTER did not shape in the Non-Black Type BSA Cape Yearling Sale Cup at Kenilworth last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He won a good race on debut over this distance. Jason Gates steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.

OCEAN TIME received a bump at the start on debut, but showed pace and stayed on to finish third. The son of Time Thief would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be competitive.

Race 2

TOTALLY ROCKS ran a good race on debut over this trip. She showed good pace and stayed on nicely to finish second. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have come on with the run. She takes on older rivals, but looks to have ability and can go one better.

ADDIENA has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She should have won last time as she shifted away from the crop in the latter stages. The daughter of Wylie Hall is a progressive type and if 4kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen is able to keep her on a straight line, she should pose a threat.

LITTLE MISS KJ was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1200m. She takes on Maiden company this evening and will enjoy the drop to 1000m. If putting her best foot forward, she should fight out the finish.

Race 3

PARMENION caught the eye late when finishing fifth on debut over this C&D. He took time to find his feet that day, but finished his race off well. The son of Crusade would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can shed his maiden tag.

AMERICAN DREAM made the natural progression when finishing third over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Anton Marcus steps into the saddle and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PHAKA IMALI ran a good race when finishing fourth over this distance on the Polytrack, 12 weeks ago. He gets the blinkers re- fitted and it is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo retains the ride. If not in need of the run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA showed very good improvement when finishing second over 1200m on this course last time. The manner in which he ran on at the business end was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He will be at home over may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

RED SOLE is much better than his last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. He will be cherry-ripe and must be included in all bets.

BRAVE VOYAGER ran a good race when finishing third over 1400m on the polytrack. The son of Pathfork is a progressive type and with a bit of luck in running, he should go close.

Race 5

SALVATOR MUNDI won a good race in the Listed Kenilworth Cup last time. He raced from a handy position, moved up well and kept finding all the way to the line. He should have no issues with the drop to 2400m and if suited to this course, he will be the horse to beat.

IMPERIAL RUBY ran a fair race in the Grade 3 Caradoc Gold Cup. He has won twice and finished third once from ten starts over this distance. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

SPRING FLING ran a fair race in the Listed Kings Cup, despite racing wide around the turn. His best form has been under Donovan Dillon and from his good draw of three, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

KEEP ON DANCING stayed on strongly when finishing second in her last start over 1500m behind stable companion, Mount Laurel. She has won twice and finished second once from eight starts on this course. The 5yo mare is having her peak run this evening and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

BLACK SILVER won a good race in her last start over 1800m at Kenilworth. She returns from a well-deserved 11-week break tonight. She does have a wide draw of twelve to overcome, but gets the services of S’manga Khumalo who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

ONLY THE BRAVE returns from a 13-week rest and makes her stable debut for the Peter Muscutt yard. She is a filly with ability and if not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 7

MOUNT ANDERSON finished 1.45 lengths behind GAINSFORD last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights tonight and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The 16-week break would have done him the world of good and with just 53kgs on his back, he can notch up his fifth career victory.

GAINSFORD was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1600m at Kenilworth. He was slow into stride, but got up where it matters most. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and if jumping on terms, he can notch up the hat-trick.

CAT DADDY won a good race in the Listed Kings Cup last time. He moved up well that day and kept finding all the way to the line. Craig Zackey retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 8

SAV’S STAR should have finished closer in her last start against males as she had to be eased at the 250m mark. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven runs over this trip. She is having her peak run and with 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa in the saddle, she is the horse to beat.

LADY MACBETH was running on when finishing second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this trip. She takes a drop in class and is one of the leading contenders.

PRINCESS DONELLY should have finished closer in her last start over 1400m as she hung in the latter stages. Her form prior to that outing over this distance was good. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and if keeping on a straight line, she should go close to winning
