Race 1

CARAMEL FUDGE made the expected natural improvement when second in his last start over 1600m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Quasillo should have no issues with the drop to 1400m and from his good draw of two, he can go one better.

MCCARTNEY rallied late when finishing second in his comeback run over 1200m on the Polytrack. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HIS MASTER’S VOICE showed very good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He returns from a 12-week break and with a bit of luck from his widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

CAN’T CATCH ME was running on too late when third over 1200m on this course last time. She had to overcome a wide draw of thirteen that day. The daughter of Flower Alley will enjoy the step up to 1400m and from her good draw of two, she is capable of shedding her maiden tag.

BRIGHT STAR’S last four starts before given a 16-week break were good. She moved up like a winner over this C&D last time, but was outrun late. The 16-week break would have done her the world of good and if not in need of this outing, she should pose a massive threat.

EDVIGE was running on when second in her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has finished second four times from five starts over this distance. The daughter of Noble Tune is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 3

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is THE GREEN GALLANT from the Frank Robinson yard. He ran a decent race in his comeback run over 1700m on the Polytrack and the saddle was reported to have slipped. He would have come on from the run and in this type of field, he can go one better.

TAKE TO WAR ran a good race in his last start over 2400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He returns from a 15-week break, which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

LA DREAMER ran a fair race in her last start over 2000m on this course. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should give the males a run for their money.

Race 4

WITH PLEASURE caught the eye when running on strongly over 1800m on this course last time. He finished 0.25 lengths behind QUEUE WING that day and is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. He jumps from a good draw of three and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should notch up his third career victory.

QUEUE WING won a good race in his last start over 1800m on this course. He received the minimum two-pound penalty for that victory. He tries the 2200m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can follow up.

SUNDAY ISLAND ran a good race when third over 1800m on the Polytrack last time. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he was gelded. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 5

AQUAE SULIS was not beaten far in her last two starts. She has won twice from three starts over this C&D. The 6yo mare takes a drop in class and with some luck from barrier seven, she is capable of returning to winning ways.

CAPETOWN BEAUTY was in need of her comeback run over 1400m. She won her only attempt over this distance. The daughter of Capetown Noir drops in class and she should strip much fitter. From pole position, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

BELLA SICCOME is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa and if not in need of the run, she can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 6

BOUNDLESS BASH should have finished closer in the Listed Model Man Mile as the saddle was reported to have slipped. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He won his only start over this distance and with Keagan de Melo in the saddle, he can return to winning ways.

TIME TAKER finished 0.3 lengths behind SOUTHERN CAPE last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Time Thief will be mowing down the frontrunners.

CAPE EAGLE was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 7

HOOVES OF TROY finished 2.35 lengths behind VALIENTE last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished second four times from seven starts over this distance. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

VALIENTE finished 0.6 lengths behind IRON BARK last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

IRON BARK was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory and against similar company, he can follow up.

Race 8

PETIT VERDOT ran a fair race in her post-maiden effort over this C&D. She was reported to have been cut into on her right hind leg that day. It must be noted that the form has been franked. The 10-week break would have done her the world of good. The daughter of What A Winter takes a slight drop in class and from her good draw of three, she may be the one to close off the meeting.

MORGAN LA FAY lost a length at the start last time, but stayed on nicely to finish second over this distance on the polytrack. With a bit of luck from her wide draw of eleven, she should pose a massive threat to the top choice.

WINTER JOURNEY finished 0.8 lengths behind HATTA last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line
