Race 1

YGRITTE is a filly taking on the males. She has finished second in her last two starts over 1200m. She took the lead at the 400m mark last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Canadian Summer. The daughter of William Longsword will enjoy the drop to 1000m and with just 54.5kgs on her back, she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

WULFSTON has produced three good efforts to date. He was unlucky last time as he was baulked between the 600m mark and the 500m mark. He should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. NDYGRITTE is a filly taking on the males. NDAKA showed good speed over this distance on the turf last time, but found one too good in the form of Floreana Island. He may be at his best on the turf, but is in a good space and should earn another cheque.AKA showed good speed over this distance on the turf last time, but found one too good in the form of Floreana Island. Race 2

ENID’S GIRL is better than her last start over 1000m on the turf. She was reported to be coughing that day. Her first two career outings over this distance were encouraging. The daughter of Captain Of All is back against her own sex today and with just 53kgs on her back, she can shed her maiden tag.

LADY CHOCOLAT showed some improvement in her last start over 1000m on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of William Longsword will enjoy the rise to 1200m and she should have more to come.

BEVIES DELIGHT is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Peter Muscutt yard with Calvin Habib in the saddle. She is related to three-time winner Beckoning Beauty. If not too green, she should get her career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first-timers.

Race 3

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PETECA from the Paul Peter yard. He was a beaten odds-on favourite when second over 1600m on this course, two weeks ago. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the extra 100m on offer. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which will keep his mind on the task at hand.

DUKE OF AFRICA finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

LIKETHECLAPPERS ran a fair race on debut over 1200m on the turf. He returns from a 27-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Pomodoro has plenty of scope and if not in need of the run, he should have improvement to come.

Race 4

DAMOVA hails from the visiting Joe Soma yard. She showed good signs of a form return when finishing fourth over 2600m on the Turffontein Inside course. The daughter of Flower Alley takes a drop in class and if suited to the Polytrack, she may be the one to beat. MODE was doing her best work late when finishing fourth over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She too, takes a drop in class and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should be one of the leading contenders.

EYE CATCHING should have finished closer last time as she had to be eased at the 100m mark. She finished 1 length behind

WEDDING BLISS in her penultimate run. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 5

STRAIGHT UP has good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on nicely at the finish when third over 1700m on this course last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The 5yo gelding takes a slight drop in class and from his good draw of two, he should notch up his seventh career victory.

SECRET GIVER finished 2.55 lengths behind GALABIER last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and with the blinkers fitted, should be competitive.

GALABIER set the pace in his last start, fought hard but found one too good in the form of High Green. He has won three times from five starts over this C&D. He is likely to have his own way in front and should be right there.

Race 6

TREAD SWIFTLY was running on nicely when third over 1200m on the turf last time. He has won three times, finished second once and third once from twelve starts over this distance. Three of his five career victories have come on this course and if jumping on terms, he should be the horse to beat.

SPYDAS CORNER finished 1.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts on this course. He is having his peak run today and merits healthy respect.

MASTER OF DESTINY has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second three times and third twice from nine starts over this C&D. He jumps from pole position and should go close to winning.

Race 7

STAR ACT is lightly raced with top form to her credit. The speedy daughter of Jay Peg returns from a 21-week break. She has loads of ability and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should be the horse to beat.

VARVACIOUS ran a good race when finishing third in the WSB Dash last time. She has won four times, finished second once and third twice from ten starts over this distance. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

AUNTY LIZZY showed good speed when winning her last start over this C&D. She finished 2.15 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 8

This is a competitive Merit Rated 77 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is DIAMOND GIRL from the Dennis Drier yard. She was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over this distance on the turf. She is unbeaten from two starts with the tongue-tie fitted and can notch up the hat-trick.

THERE SHE GOES is better than her last start at the Vaal. She finished 1.5 lengths behind SPACE RACE, three runs ago. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

DOUBLE DREAM ran on powerfully when winning on debut over this distance on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of William Longsword could be anything and with a bit of luck, should be involved in the finish.
