Race 1

WULFSTON produced a decent debut effort over this distance on the turf, six weeks ago. He was slow into stride, raced green but stayed on to finish third. The son of Wylie Hall would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat. He is carded to race on 14 April 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

SILVER DUCAT is lightly raced with decent form to his credit. He was reported to be not striding out last time which makes the effort that much more encouraging. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and is one of the leading contenders.

KING’S SPEAR ran a good race when finishing second over this C&D, despite racing wide. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The 4yo gelding merits healthy respec

Race 2

MILKTART has produced two good efforts to date. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. She jumps from a good draw of four and can shed her maiden tag in this field.

HIGH FLYBY ran a fair race when finishing fifth against male company last time. She has finished third twice from three starts over this distance. She is carded to race on 16 April 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

MINSTREL GALLERY ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on the turf. She lost a length at the start, but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. With the natural improvement that is expected, she can run into the placings.

Race 3

HYDRANGEA is the best bet on the programme. She got going too late when finishing second over this distance on the turf last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight meets the right field this afternoon and if suited to the Polytrack, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

SPIRIT OF NUNA showed very good improvement when finishing second over 1900m on this course last time. She returns from a 22-week break, during which time she changed stables. The daughter of Elusive Fort is a progressive type and if not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.

FORGED IN ICE ran a good race when finishing second in her comeback run over 1600m last time. The daughter of What A Winter will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and she should strip a much fitter horse.

Race 4

This is a competitive Merit Rated 74 Handicap and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is ETIQUETTE from the Garth Puller stable. He won a good race under 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa in his last start. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If not in need of the run, he may be the one to side with.

SYX HOTFIX followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1600m on this course. He will enjoy the rise to 1800m and from pole position, he can notch up the hat-trick.

BELLA SICCOME is a filly taking on the males. She has finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. She takes a drop in class and should fight out the finish.

Race 5

EYE CATCHING ran a good race when finishing third in her last start over 2000m at Durbanville. The daughter of Flower Alley has won on this course in the past. She takes a drop in class and from her good draw of four, she can return to winning ways.

AERIAL VIEW followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was impressive. She will love the rise to 1900m and should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

DESERT ROSE ran a good race when finishing third over 1400m last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will be at home over 1900m. Anton Marcus takes the ride from pole position and despite her big mass of 60.5kgs, she merits healthy respect.

Race 6

JACKSON WELLS ran a good race when finishing second over this C&D last time. She raced from a handy position and rallied strongly in the latter stages. She is having her second run after a rest and should strip much fitter. She is carded to race on 17 April 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

DAWNOFANEWDAY has good consistent Cape form lines to her credit. The manner in which she finished off her last start over 1400m was encouraging. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and merits healthy respect.

CRAZY BLUES has good consistent form lines to her name. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

AUNTY LIZZY finished 1.15 lengths behind VARVACIOUS last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won twice from four starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

VARVACIOUS ran a good race when finishing third in the Listed Kwa-Zulu Natal Stakes last time. She has won twice from three starts over this C&D. Despite her big mass of 61.5kgs, she should go close to winning.

LADY CATHERINE is better than her last two starts on the turf. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. She has cracked a good draw of three and can cause an upset.

Race 8

CAPETOWN AFFAIR set the pace in his last start over this C&D, but found one too good in the form of BlackWhiteDynamite. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He meets the right field this afternoon and will be hard to catch.

GENIE finished 3.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

COUNT MARSH showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1200m on this course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He takes a drop in class and should be at peak fitness.

Race 9

GREY OCEAN should have won his last start as he had no luck in the closing stages of the race. He steps back up to the 1400m which should suit him well at this stage of his career. With a bit of luck in running, he can return to winning ways.

STANLEY should have finished closer in his last start as he had to be switched off heels at the 200m mark. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

FOREST JUMP ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He jumps from a good draw of two and will be staying on at the finish
