Race 1

READY TO FLY should have won her last start over this distance on the turf. She lost a length leaving the starting stalls, ran on well but shifted away from the grandstand in the closing stages. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is progressive and looks to have ability. If suited to the Polytrack, she should take a power of beating.

VIRGINIA SWEET’S last two starts over this distance have been decent. She finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

MINSTREL GALLERY may not have seen out the mile in her last start. Her penultimate run when finishing second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville was encouraging. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she can run into the placings.

Race 2

SLIM JANNIE produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He finished his race off nicely, despite Rachel Venniker dropping her crop. The son of Pathfork would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.

TIMEINTHEWOODS showed very good improvement when finishing second over this distance at the Vaal last time. He fought hard all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Thymetoshine. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SLURRICANE has run two fair races to date. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

Race 3

GRAPHENE AEROGEL made the expected natural improvement when finishing second in her last start over 1600m on this course. She raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Amble Inn. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the daughter of Jackson. She should have no issues with the rise to 1900m and may be the horse to beat.

COLOUR CODED set the pace over 1700m at the Vaal last time, but was caught late by Country Flame. She tries the Polytrack for the first time and if suited, she may be hard to peg back.

AMERICAN STYLE was her own worst enemy last time as she overraced in the early stages. However, the manner in which she stayed on to finish second was encouraging. If Keagan de Melo is able to switch her off early, she should have a good winning chance.

Race 4

KAILENE ran a fair race when finishing sixth in the Grade 1 Woolavington 2000 last time. Her penultimate run when finishing third in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas was encouraging. She won her only attempt on this course. She returns to Handicap company and from her good draw of three, she may be too good for this field.

SASHAY AWAY was outclassed in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. With just 53kgs on her back, she should be one of the leading contenders.

TOP ME UP HOLLY showed good guts when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. She does take a step up in class, but is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 5

TRACK COMMANDER has run fair races in his last two starts at the Vaal. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick on the son of Gimmethegreenlight. He takes a drop in class and can return to winning ways.

FOREST JUMP should have finished closer last time as he raced wide around the turn and the apprentice dropped his crop in the straight. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. His last victory came under Keagan De Melo and he should pose a threat.

CIRO was in need of his comeback run over 1550m on this course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He won his maiden under jockey Ashton Arries and will strip much fitter.

Race 6

CAFE PACIFICA finished 2.8 lengths behind TECHNO SAVVY last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. This will be his first run over the mile and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

BRANDENBURG set the pace when winning his last start over 1700m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes a drop in class and can follow up.

QUERARI’S COWBOY has fair recent form lines to his credit. He continues to drop in the ratings and takes a drop in class. Despite his big mass of 61.5kgs, he should be right there at the finish.

Race 7

BURMESE TIARA was an easy winner of her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She took the lead at the 300m mark, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. She meets a similar type of field this afternoon and may be hard to peg back.

GARDENIA raced wide around the turn last time and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. Her penultimate run when finishing 2.35 lengths behind Proud Master was encouraging. She takes a drop in class and is back against her own sex. She will be at peak fitness and is one of the leading contenders.

POPPY OF BAYEUX produced a typical second run after a rest last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If repeating her penultimate run, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

ICY NIGHT produced a typical second run after a rest last time and is better than the effort suggests. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She takes a drop in class and should be cherry-ripe. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse takes the ride and she can return to winning ways.

TOP HONOURS ran a good race when finishing second over 1200m on this course. She has finished second once and third twice from six starts over this distance. If confirming her recent improvement, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

OUR EMILY stayed on when finishing fifth over 1000m on this course last time. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick and she will be staying on at the business end.

Race 9

LESLIES PATHTOFAME was unlucky not to have won his last start over 1200m on this course. All six of his career victories have come on this course. Muzi Yeni knows him well and with a bit of luck, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ALFONSA SPAGONI has good recent form lines to his credit. He was slow into stride last time, but finished his race off strongly. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and should go close.

FIERY DUKE ran a fair race in his last start over 1200m on this course. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen and should be cherry-ripe. He jumps from a handy draw of five and can feature
