She raced from a handy position last time, but found one too good in the form of Iced Tea. The daughter of Jackson does not meet the strongest field today and if suited to the polytrack, she should shed her maiden tag.

Jockey: Randolph S – Trainer: Odendaal M

WINTERTIME got going too late when finishing fourth over this C&D against males last time. She takes a slight drop in class this afternoon and is back against her own sex. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw, she can return to winning ways.

Race 3: JUSTFORTHEEPENNY (9)

Jockey: Fourie R – Trainer: Kotzen N

JUSTFORTHEEPENNY has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He should have won last time as he hung in the latter stages. It must be noted that the form of that race has worked out well. The son of Just As Well takes a drop in class and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

WINTER WAVES is one of the better bets on today’s card. He ran a good race when finishing second over this C&D last time. He cast a shoe in running that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. He takes a slight drop in class and with 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Kyle Strydom in the saddle, he should be the one to beat.

Race 4: INGAKARA (7)

Jockey: Patel N – Trainer: Odendaal M

INGAKARA took on much stronger company in her last start over 1900m. She looked a winner in her penultimate effort over this distance, but was caught in the shadow of the post. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. She is likely to have her own way in front today and may be hard to peg back
