Race 1

WINTER JOURNEY has finished second in her last three starts. She showed good speed over this C&D against male company last time, but was outrun late by Guy Fox. The daughter of What A Winter is back against her own sex this afternoon and with Muzi Yeni back in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.

LADIES DAY has good recent form lines to her credit. She has finished second twice and third twice from as many starts over this C&D. She finished 1.4 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run and may have to settle for the same result.

ANTICO AMORE returns from a 14-week break and makes her local debut. She is lightly raced with fair Cape form to her credit. The tongue-tie gets fitted for the first time and if suited to the polytrack, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 2

RAIN OR SHINE produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. Despite racing wide, he stayed on nicely at the finish. The well-related son of Soft Falling Rain returns from a 31-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, he should be the one to beat.

ALPENHORN finished 0.2 lengths behind BUSH FIRE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be competitive.

BUSH FIRE showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride from pole position and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 3

PURPLE NKANYEZI’S last three starts have been good. She took on male company when third over this C&D last time. She takes a drop in class and is back against her own sex. Serino Moodley retains the ride and she can return to winning ways.

SHAPE OF YOU has good consistent form lines to her credit. She finished 0.5 lengths behind BOLDLY GO, three runs ago. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

ICE SUNSATION followed up her debut victory with a decent third-place finish. She returns from a 16-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Vercingetorix has plenty of scope and if not in need of the run, she should be competitive.

Race 4

CAESURA is one of the better bets on today’s card. His last three starts have been good. He moved up like a winner over 1800m last time, but was outrun late by Monarchy. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He meets the right field this afternoon and should notch up his seventh career victory.

GALABIER has fair recent form lines to his credit. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse and carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

ROCKY COAST finished 0.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 5

QUERARI’S COWBOY took on much stronger in his last start. He has won twice and finished third twice from seven starts over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of two and on best form shown, he may be the one to beat.

KING’S COVE showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. He meets a similar type of field today and should pose a massive threat.

VELVET SEASON ran a good race when finishing fourth over 1400m on this course. He has finished second five times and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. He should strip a much fitter horse and with a bit of luck in running, he should go close to winning.

Race 6

TIME TO ROLL was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She took on strong company last time, but she showed her class and won with authority. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this distance. The daughter of Jackson takes a drop in class and despite her big mass of 60.5kgs, she can notch up her fourth win in a row.

ALL AGLOW is better than her last start with the blinkers fitted. Her two previous outings were good. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and should be one of the leading contenders.

CHANTY LANE lost five lengths at the start last time and had to be eased at the 1400m mark. Her penultimate run when finishing second over 1400m on the turf was encouraging. If jumping on terms, she should go close to winning.

Race 7

AIRWAYS LAW may not have seen out the 1800m on the turf last time. He was ultra-impressive when following up his maiden win over this C&D. He returns from a 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. The son of Legislate looks to have ability and if not in need of the run, he can return to winning ways.

CAPTAIN SEAGER showed good guts when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. He returns to Handicap Company this afternoon and is likely to have his own way in front once again. From his good draw of two, he should be the horse to beat.

MAXIUMUS ran a decent race in his last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Vercingetorix will be staying on at the finish.

Race 8

ANGEL OF JUSTICE finished 1.95 lengths behind HOT STRIKE last time. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will enjoy the extra distance on offer and from her good draw of three, she may be the one to beat.

HOT STRIKE has run three good races since winning her maiden. She takes a drop in class and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HOT MONEY is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. On best form shown, she should go close to winning
