Race 1
HAYAT produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the turf. He showed good speed, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Superior Force. The son of Rafeef found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work back at home. He would have come on with the run under his belt and from pole position, he may be hard to peg back.
BIG SLICK ran a good race on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He was green in running but showed good guts in the latter stages. The son of Canford Cliffs would have come on with the run and if not too green around the turn, he should throw out a big challenge to the top selection.
SILVER DUCAT has run four fair races to date. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen which will help his chances.
Race 2
NAZDAROVYA hails from the visiting Johan Janse van Vuuren stable. She showed good improvement when finishing third with the tongue-tie fitted last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. Anton Marcus steps into the saddle and if suited to the Polytrack, she can shed her maiden tag in this type of field.
GAUL RULER showed some improvement in his first run as a gelding. He was reported to be distressed post-race. The son of Vercingetorix should strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
COVERT OPERATOR is the stable companion of the top choice. He showed signs of needing his last start over 1000m. His best effort has been over this distance and he will strip much fitter. The son of Coup De Grace can run into the placings.
Race 3
PICARA is still a maiden after 11 starts, but she has good consistent form lines to her credit. She should have won her last outing, but she hung in the latter stages. The daughter of Elusive Fort tries the Polytrack for the first time and if suited, she may be rewarded for consistency.
AMERICAN STYLE finished 3.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
WINTER MELODY may not have seen out the 1750m in her last start. Her three efforts prior to that over this distance were encouraging. Anton Marcus steps into the saddle once again and from her good draw of two, she should be competitive.
Race 4
PURPLE FLAME is the best bet on the card. He showed signs of needing his comeback run over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The son of Potala Palace won his maiden over this distance. He is the best-weighted runner in this contest and should strip much fitter. If suited to the Polytrack, he is the horse to beat.
IDEAL ACT showed some signs of a form return over 1200m on the turf last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. He is well weighted and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
VOLDEMORT was in need of his first run as a gelding. He will enjoy the rise to 1400m and should strip much fitter. The son of William Longsword tries the Polytrack and if putting his best foot forward, he should go close to winning.
Race 5
CAPTAIN SEAGER was very unlucky last time as he reared as the gates opened. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. He has won once and finished third twice from four starts on this course. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, he should notch up his third career victory.
CAPE EAGLE has produced three decent efforts since winning his maiden. He set the pace over this C&D last time, but was outrun very late. The son of Vercingetorix has ability and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
CUPID’S SONG has won once and finished second three times from six starts over this C&D. His last victory came under jockey Sean Veale and from pole position, he cannot be ignored.
Race 6
FARLAND has been taking on stronger company in recent outings. He lost a length at the start last time, raced wide but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class and from pole position, he may be the one to cause the upset.
SOUTHERN CAPE is better than her last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Flower Alley won her only attempt on this course and she merits healthy respect.
ELECTRIC SURGE showed some signs of a form return in her last start over 1600m on this course. She was reported to be coughing and cut into on her left hind leg. The daughter of Querari should strip a much fitter horse today and can run into the placings.
Race 7
GODDESS OF LIGHT was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1400m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She has won twice from three starts over this distance. The daughter of Master Of My Fate gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. From pole position, she may be the one to side with.
TOTO hails from the visiting Mike and Adam Azzie stable. She returns from a 15-week break, which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.
PURPLE NKANYEZI won a good race in her last start over 1400m on this course. She has won three times and finished second three times from eight starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the pace and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 8
GREY OCEAN is one of the better bets on today’s card. He ran a decent race when finishing fourth over 1200m on this course. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Greys Inn should be cherry-ripe and with Warren Kennedy back in the saddle, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
ALFONSA SPAGONI showed good signs of a form return in his last start under 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Cole Dicken. He lost a length at the start, but finished his race off well. If confirming his recent improvement, he should pose a massive threat.
LESLIES PATHTOFAME finished 0.15 lengths behind WE ALL CHOMIES last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He jumps from pole position and must be included in all bets
