Race 1

VASILIKOS hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. He raced from just off the pace over 1100m at Turffontein last time but found one too good in the form of Mercantour. He is having his second run after the gelding and if not too green around the turn, he may be the one to beat.

EDDIE THE MOVER may not have seen out the 1400m last time. It must be noted that there have been multiple winners from that form line. He will enjoy the drop back to 1000m and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

IMPOSING is an unraced son of Visionaire from the Glen Kotzen yard with Donovan Dillon in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Redberry Lane and Knights Templar. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

EXPEDITIONER is the best bet on the card. He has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. He was unlucky last time as he was unbalanced at the 200m mark. The son of Trippi will enjoy the rise to 1200m. He gets the services of Richard Fourie and in this type of field, he should shed his maiden tag.

GREY VIEW is much better than his last start as he jumped a shadow at the 500m mark. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has finished second twice and third twice from six starts over this distance. The blinkers have been removed and he cannot be ignored.

SHESAKINDA MAGIC should have finished closer in her last start as she was carried wide at the 1200m mark. The daughter of Willow Magic will strip much fitter and it is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps into the saddle. With a bit of luck in running, she should feature.

Race 3

COLOUR CODED has shown improvement in her last three starts. She raced from a handy position over 2000m last time and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Zoffany should have no issues with the 2300m and she has plenty of scope. She has cracked a good draw of four and if all went well with her travels, she should be the one to beat.

GIANTS CASTLE has improved in his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. The 4yo gelding should love the rise to 2300m. His best effort has been under S’manga Khumalo and is one of the leading contenders.

BLAZING LIGHT has finished second in his last two runs. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 2300m. He is in a good space and will be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

SEEKING THE STARS is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Diadem Stakes as he took an awkward stride at the 100m mark. He returns from a 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. He is unbeaten from four starts over this distance. The son of Vercingetorix is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the wide draw of ten and he should be the horse to beat.

LINEBACKER ran a good race when finishing third in the Grade 1 Cape Town Met last time. He finished 1.15 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He may be in need of this outing, but has the class to be competitive.

JET DARK was doing his best work late when finishing second in the Grade 1 Cape Town Met. The son of Trippi has shown in the past that he needs one run to bring him on. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be running on.

Race 5

This is a competitive Grade 2 Fillies Guineas field. UNDER YOUR SPELL from the Sean Tarry stable is the narrow first selection. She challenged strongly in the Grade 1 Empress Club Stakes last time, but found one too good in the form of Princess Calla. The classy daughter of Capetown Noir makes her course debut and if suited, she may be the one to beat.

SUPREME QUEST won a good race in the Grade 3 Umzimkhulu Stakes last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Anton Marcus retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

KAILENE finished 1.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. She thrives in KZN and has a record of one win and four second-place finishes on this course. Donovan Dillon takes the ride and if keeping on a straight line, she should be competitive.

Race 6

POMP AND POWER showed a very good turn of foot when winning the Grade 1 Cape Derby last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. His run when finishing second in the Grade 1 Cape Guineas, three runs ago was encouraging. He does have a wide draw to contend with, but Richard Fourie knows him well and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

COSMIC HIGHWAY won a good race in the Grade 2 Diadem Stakes last time. He won his only attempt on this course when winning the Listed Gatecrasher Stakes. He jumps from pole position and merits healthy respect.

DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE finished 4.75 lengths behind the top choice in the Grade 1 Cape Derby last time. He was an impressive winner in the Grade 1 Cape Guineas, three runs ago. He is drawn widest of all but with a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive.

Race 7

BOLD ACT showed good signs of a form return in the Grade 3 Umzimkhulu Stakes last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Act Of War gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. She returns to Handicap company and can notch up her fourth career victory.

JULIET TANGO was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. She returns from a well-deserved 16-week break which would have done her the world of good. She is a filly with ability and if not in need of the run, she should go close to winning.

MACARA ran a good race when finishing third against the males last time. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts on this course. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and should fight out the finish.

Race 8

TRUMP MY QUEEN stayed on at the finish when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The blinkers have been removed for this outing and from her good draw of two, she should be the one to beat.

HOT STRIKE was unlucky in her last start as she had to be switched at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CASHEW followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over this distance on the Polytrack. It must be noted that Rain Wear has come out and won again since. She takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and must be included in all bets
