Race 1

FUTURE OF ENERGY ran a good race when third behind Grade 1 winner Cousin Casey last time. He returns from a 24-week break, during which time he was gelded. He has his first run on this course and if not in need of the run, he is capable of winning in this line-up.

FIRE TONIC produced a decent debut effort over 1200m on the Polytrack. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

MIRACULOUS MAN was in need of his debut effort over this distance on the Polytrack. He would have come on from the run and may be better suited to the turf. The Peter Muscutt stable is in fine form and cannot be ignored.

Race 2

IDEAL GIFT ran a fair race when fourth in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that Broadway Girl has come out and won a minor feature race since. The daughter of Ideal World is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can shed her maiden tag.

NATALIA stayed on when second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. It must be noted that Let It Snow has come out and won again since. With a bit of luck from her wide draw of ten, she should pose a threat to the top choice.

FAIZAH produced a fair debut effort over 1400m on this course. She raced from a handy position but brushed the inside running rail at the 800m mark. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should run into the money.

Race 3

FLIRTY DANCER did not enjoy a slow run race in her last start over 1600m on the Polytrack. Her debut effort when finishing second at Hollywoodbets Scottsville catches the eye. The daughter of Futura will love the rise to 2000m and with genuine fractions set up front, she should be the horse to beat.

SUCH A CRACKER set the pace in her last start over 1600m on the Polytrack before getting outrun late by Just Virginia. She tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be hard to peg back.

ADELANTE has shown improvement in her last two starts. She set the pace over 1700m on the Polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Malcolm’s Dream. She jumps from a good draw of four and will be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

AERIAL VIEW ran on from last when second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. She meets a similar field this afternoon and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should go one better.

EVENING PRIMROSE has fair recent form lines to her credit. She finished 2 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

MY CHERIE AMOUR won a good race in her last start over 1900m on the Polytrack. She lost three lengths leaving the start, but quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Canford Cliffs takes a rise in class, but she is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 5

WINTER BARON showed good pace in his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville but was caught in the shadow of the post by Faustino. The son of What A Winter takes a drop in class. He is having his first run on this course and if not too green around the turn, he should be the horse to beat with Richard Fourie in the saddle.

CAPTAIN ARIANO stayed on nicely when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni retains the ride and from pole position, she should give the males a run for their money.

STRAWBERRY BEAR showed good speed when winning his maiden at the second time of asking over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The son of Flying The Flag takes on stronger, but he is lightly raced and has plenty of scope.

Race 6

SASHAY AWAY finished 0.15 lengths behind MEET AT THE GEORGE last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. The daughter of Var has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. She gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Richard Fourie takes the ride and she can return to winning ways.

MEET AT THE GEORGE ran on well when winning her last start over 1400m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The 6yo mare merits healthy respect.

MONASHADA’S last two starts have been fair. She takes a big drop in distance to 1200m and on best form shown, she may be the one to cause the upset.

Race 7

MASTER OF DESTINY has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on when third over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from nine starts on this course. The 6yo gelding should have no issues with the rise to 1900m and he can notch up his sixth career victory.

NEWS STREAM fought hard for his last victory over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Two of his six career victories have come on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MONARCHY finished 1.4 lengths behind SEA MASTER last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 8

WINTER AIR was not beaten far in his last start over 1400m on this course. He takes a drop in class and will be at peak fitness. The son of What A Winter has cracked a good draw of three and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

TEICHMAN’S last two starts have been good. He set the pace over 2000m last time and stayed on to finish third. He is likely to race on the speed once again and may be hard to peg back.

CAESURA finished 3 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck from the widest draw of eleven, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest
