PRINCESS GOLDIE stayed on when third over 1200m on debut. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.

HOT LAVA showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m. She raced from just off the pace before getting caught late. If confirming that effort, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

STAR OF THE FUTURE has produced two good runs to date. He returns from a lengthy 29-week break, during which time he was gelded. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and in this field, he should be the one to beat.

BARRY DU GROND should have finished closer to the winner last time. He was reported to have a head injury and the jockey dropped his crop. He jumps from a good draw of two and he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

CHILI BOMB is having his first run for the Gareth van Zyl stable. His penultimate effort when third over 1160m at Turffontein catches the eye. If settled into his new surroundings, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

This is a weak Maiden Plate and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to the first timers. PRINCE FLORIAN is a son of What A Winter from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. He is related to Industrialstrength who has won once and placed twice from as many starts. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field and if not too green, he should start his career on a positive note.

CAPTAINSHIP was in need of his debut effort over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He would have come on from the run and should enjoy the extra distance on offer. There should be improvement to come from him.

UZWANO is a son of Ideal World and is the stable companion of the top choice. Serino Moodley is booked to ride and if not in need of the outing, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 4

FREDDY SLATER showed very good improvement when second over 1600m on this course last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. The son of Royal Mo is a progressive type and with a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.

JP’S PALACE has produced two decent efforts to date. He showed speed over 1200m last time but found one too good in the form of Vihaan’s Web. The son of Potala Palace should love the rise to 1400m and he should pose a massive threat.

BANDMASTER should have won his last start as he had to be switched for running room at the 50m mark. He would have come on from the run and will love the rise in distance. He should strip much fitter and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 5

PRAY FOR RAIN finished 0.15 lengths behind CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He has won once, finished second once and third four times from eleven starts on this course. He can notch up his sixth-career victory in this field.

CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL stayed on strongly when third over 1000m last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GOOD TRAVELLER is better than his last start suggests. He has won once and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. On his previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

QUASIFORSURE is better than his last three starts suggest as he had excuses in each of those efforts. He returns from a 10-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won four times, finished second once and third once from ten starts on this course.

He races well fresh and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, he can return to winning ways. COIN SPINNER finished 1.05 lengths behind PROUD MASTER last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

PROUD MASTER is a winner of his last two starts over this distance on the polytrack. He is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.

Race 7

SPIRIT OF LEVANA ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes last time. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she hung inwards. The daughter of Fire Away is having her first run of the season and she gets the blinkers fitted. If not in need of this outing, she can return to winning ways.

CARE FORGOT won a game race in her last start over this C&D. She takes on stronger, but is a filly with ability and is one of the leading contenders.

SAFE AND SOUND found one too good in the form of Wonderful last time. She lost a length at the start but stayed on at the finish. If getting away to a clean start, she should finish in the placings.

Race 8

GOLDEN PEACE ran on well to win his last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and despite his big mass of 61.5kgs, he can follow up.

WICCAN WARRIOR is the stable companion of the top choice. He was not disgraced when fourth in his last start over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. From his good draw of two, he merits healthy respect.

KITCHAKAL had excuses in his last start. It must be noted that Officer In Command has come out and won again since. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 9

Trainer Mike Miller holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. WARRIOR ROYALE made the expected natural improvement when second over 1400m last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix should enjoy the step up to 1600m. She is a progressive type and can go one better.

TWILIGHT BAY raced from a handy position last time and stayed on to finish fourth. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She jumps from a good draw of three and may have more to come.

FLYING HALFA ran a fair race over 1800m at Turffontein last time. She should have no issues with the drop back to the mile and if jumping on terms, she may be the one to spoil the Mike Miller party
