The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. The daughter of Red Ray would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should go close.
LIKEABLE is a daughter of Erupt from the Mike Miller stable with Tristan Godden in the saddle. She is related to three-time winner La Quinta. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 2
BEECHAMWOOD BOY is much better than his last start over 1400m as he was reported to be not striding out and blowing. His first three career outings over this distance were encouraging. Donovan Dillon takes the ride aboard the son of Eightfold Path and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
THE BRIEF has shown very good improvement in his last two starts. He raced from a handy position last time and stayed on to finish second over 1400m. The son of Wylie Hall is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GERONIMO is the stable companion of the top choice. His last two starts over 1000m have been fair. He has finished third twice from four starts over this C&D. Kyle Strydom takes the ride and he can run into the placings.
Race 3
AMARANDI was a beaten odds-on favourite in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She did not get off to the best of starts, but stayed on at the finish. Her penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D under Warren Kennedy catches the eye. If jumping on terms, she can shed her maiden tag.
RASPBERRY BERET showed very good improvement in her last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She challenged strongly, but found one too good in the form of Abbacadabra. She finished 4.4 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run and the pair meet on the same weight terms today.
RUN AGAIN finished her race off nicely on debut over this C&D. The daughter of Crusade would have come on with the run under her belt with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.
Race 4
ANTIGONUS should have finished a lot closer to the winner last time as he had to be eased at the 200m mark. Two of his six career victories have come over this distance. His last victory came under 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Rachel Venniker and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to beat.
MASTER OF DESTINY ran on powerfully to win his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has won once, finished second four times and third once from ten starts over this distance. He will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.
CONGO COMPAQ won a good race last time despite his pilot dropping his crop. He takes a rise in class this afternoon, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 5
GAUDIS MASTERPIECE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville, nine weeks ago. The son of Vercingetorix does take on stronger this afternoon, but he is the best weighted runner and has plenty of scope. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Rachel Venniker which will help his chances.
CAPTAIN SEAGER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
MASTER VISION’S last three starts have been good. He should have no issues with the drop to 1500m. From his mid-field draw, S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 6
SEA EAGLE showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She lost a length at the start that day, but the manner in which she finished off her race caught the eye. The daughter of Querari has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. She jumps from pole position this afternoon and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
ROCKIE REEF was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She took the lead at the 200m mark and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Jackson takes on stronger in her Handicap debut, but she is lightly raced and has plenty of scope.
RISE has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won twice from six starts over this C&D. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Mfanelo Zuma and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 7
SPYDAS CORNER finished 3.05 lengths behind ISHNANA last time. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. The son of What A Winter should take a power of beating.
ISHNANA won a good race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. He carries a big mass of 62.5kgs, but is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
