Race 1

KHULUMA NATHI has shown good improvement in his last two starts after the gelding. He moved up well over 1600m last time, but was caught in the latter stages. The son of William Longsword should have no issues with the 1400m and he will be cherry-ripe. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he go one better here.

FIRE LORD hails from the visiting Mike de Kock stable. He showed massive improvement in his last start over this distance at Turffontein. If suited to the polytrack, he should pose a massive threat.

BRISTOLBEAUFIGHTER stayed on nicely at the finish over this distance last time, but found one too good in the form of Ideal Act. He is having his peak run today and has cracked a much better draw. He should be cherry-ripe and if suited to the surface, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

TRITON raced from a handy position over 2000m last time but was outrun in the latter stages by Mingshi. The son of Jackson will be suited to the 1700m and in this type of field, he should shed his maiden tag.

SIR THEODORE finished 2.6 lengths behind the top choice in his last outing. The pair meet on the same weight terms this afternoon and he may have to settle for the same result. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he may have more to come.

OVER THE BAY was unlucky last time as he was baulked for running room between the 250m mark and the 50m mark. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Rachel Venniker retains the ride and he will be staying on at the finish.

Race 3

MARIA’S WORLD is another from the visiting Mike de Kock stable. She is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. The blinkers remain fitted this afternoon and S’manga Khumalo may be able to get the best out of the daughter of Ideal World. She is carded to race on 06 January 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be checked.

GREEN SLEEVES showed some improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day suggests that she will enjoy the rise to the mile. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight looks progressive and with Warren Kennedy in the saddle, she should have more to come.

TIDE IS HIGH has fair recent form lines to her credit. The daughter of Oratorio will enjoy the rise to the mile and with a bit of luck from her wide draw, she can run into the placings.

Race 4

SEQUOIA ran a good race when finishing fourth over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on nicely at the finish. He takes a slight drop in class and it is encouraging that Muzi Yeni keeps faith in the ride. If suited to the polytrack, he should be the one to beat.

TWICE THE FLIGHT should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the latter stages. He is having his second run after a rest today and should strip much fitter. If keeping on a straight line, he should be one of the leading contenders.

THE APPEAL may not have seen out the 2400m last time. His penultimate run when finishing second over 1700m on this course catches the eye. From his good draw of three, he cannot be ignored.

Race 5

RUNNING RIFLES followed up his maiden win with a good fourth-place finish over 1200m on the turf. He was squeezed at the start that day and had to switch at the 150m mark. The son of Vercingetorix will love the step up to the mile and with a bit of luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure. ROY’S

COMMAND finished 1.3 lengths behind HIPPOCRATES last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of What A Winter will be staying on at the business end.

HIPPOCRATES set the pace in his last start, despite stumbling when leaving the starting stalls. The blinkers get removed on this occasion and he tries a pair of cheekpieces. He is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back.

Race 6

TEICHMAN should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had no luck in running. He has won once and finished second four times from thirteen starts on this course. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he may be the one to side with.

FISTS OF FIRE has good recent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second twice and third three times from eight starts on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

QUERARI’S COWBOY has fair recent form lines to his credit. He has won twice and finished third once from five starts over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and runs well for jockey Keagan de Melo. He does have a wide draw of ten to overcome, but he is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

Race 7

MAJORCA PALACE’S last two starts over the minimum distance have been good. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should notch up his fifth career victory.

HERECOMESTHERAIN finished 1.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms this afternoon and he may have to settle for the same result.

CAPE EAGLE was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He showed good speed and kept finding to keep all challengers at bay. The son of Vercingetorix returns from a 16-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He makes his handicap debut, but is lightly raced and looks to have plenty of scope.

Race 8

ARCTIC PRINCESS was finishing her race off nicely over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She finished 3.4 lengths behind CASA ROSADA that day and is 4kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

ROYAL KITTY has finished second in her last three starts. She moved up like a winner last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post. She meets a similar type of field today and if keeping on a straight line, she can return to winning ways.

GREEN DREAM stayed on strongly when finishing fourth over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the horses that finished second and third that day have come out and won since. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will be mowing down the frontrunners
