Race 1

JOHNDUNBAR produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1100m on the turf. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of Var would have gained from the experience and will love the extra distance on offer. He takes on maiden company this afternoon and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

UMTHOMBO WOLWAZI ran a decent race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He showed pace, understandably raced green and was reported to be blowing. The son of Elusive Fort will enjoy the extra distance on offer and is one of the leading contenders.

MAJESTIC WARRIOR ran a good race when finishing third on debut against winners. He raced from a handy position and stayed on nicely to finish third. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

FEELING GROOVY produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the turf. She stayed on nicely at the finish and would have come on from the outing. The daughter of Canford Cliffs carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and if suited to the Polytrack, she may be the horse to beat.

SKY CAFE showed good improvement with the tongue-tie fitted last time. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1400m. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CINNAMON BLUSH ran a decent race when third in her last start over 1200m on the turf. She was reported to be not striding out that day. The daughter of Silvano will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and can go close to winning.

Race 3

SILVANO’S TIMER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1400m on this course. Despite overracing in the early stages, he stayed on nicely at the business end. The son of Silvano is bred to enjoy the 1800m and will be at peak fitness. If Keagan de Melo is able to switch him off early, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

SHAVOUT finished 1.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this distance and merits healthy respect.

ROYAL MONARCH ran a decent race over 1400m on the turf last time. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts on this course. He tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should feature.

Race 4

PETECA was running on when third over 1400m on the turf last time. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Querari will love the rise to the mile and from pole position, he should be the horse to beat.

ALPENHORN set the pace over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but found one too good in the form of Specially Selected. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. In this type of field, he should fight out the finish.

DON’T LINNGAR showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is a progressive type and may have more to come over the mile.

Race 5

ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY set the pace in her comeback run, but was outrun in the latter stages. She would have come on with the run under her belt and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade meets the right field this afternoon and she may be the horse to beat.

LET’S NOT LINGER took on stronger in her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She drops back in class and if repeating her penultimate effort, she should run a big race.

DEMIGOD ran on well to win her last start over this C&D. She takes a step up in class this afternoon, but is in a good space and can follow up.

Race 6

INDIGO FIELDS’ last start in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas can be ignored as she was reported to have swelling on her left fore fetlock. She has won twice and finished third once from as many starts on this course. The daughter of What A Winter takes a drop in class and from her good draw of two, she can return to winning ways.

MAGICAL FLIGHT took the lead at the 300m mark last time, but was outrun late by Elusive Current. She has finished second in her only attempt on this course. She does carry top weight of 62kgs, but has ability and merits obvious inclusion.

MCKENNA SKYE has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won twice and finished third once from five starts over this distance. She runs well for Warren Kennedy and should go close to winning.

Race 7

GIN AND TONIC ran a fair race in her last start against male company. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Time Thief is drawn widest of all but with a bit of luck, she is capable of returning to winning ways.

FENNEC FOX is a 2yo filly carrying top weight against older rivals which is no easy task. However, she is a filly that has ability. The daughter of Querari tries the Polytrack for the first time and if suited to the surface, she should be competitive.

MAGICALLEE showed good speed when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She carries a light mass of 48kgs and may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

RUNNING FREELY ran a good race when finishing third in his last start over 1400m on this course. His penultimate victory over this C&D was encouraging. He returns to a Merit Rated 67 Handicap and with S’manga Khumalo back in the saddle, he can notch up his fourth career victory.

GIMME A RAINBOW has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

LOOKING HOT has fair recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that On Cue has come out and won again since. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and if keeping on a straight line, she should give the males a run for their money
