Race 1

APPLE CATCHER produced a promising debut effort over this C&D, six weeks ago. She lost a length at the start, but moved up well and challenged strongly all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Pomodoro would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should go one better.

HEAD GIRL has run three good races to date. She returns from a 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade shows good speed in her races and if fit, she may be hard to peg back.

JAZZ DIVA finished 3.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

GREEN FALCON showed good pace in a workriders race over 1000m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Night Tiger. His two previous efforts over this C&D were encouraging. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ON BOARD stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Allende. The daughter of Vercingetorix carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and she should give the males a run for their money.

CARRIACOU ran a fair race in his last start over 1400m. His penultimate run when finishing second over 1000m on this course was encouraging. French jockey Christophe Soumillon does duty and if fit, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

LIVE MY LIFE was not beaten far in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes last time. She lost a length leaving the starting stalls, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight steps up to 1400m and the blinkers have been removed. If seeing out the extra furlong on offer, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

GOING UP finished 1.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

VERONICA MARS ran a fair race in the Grade 3 Hollywoodbets Victress Stakes last time. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the second selection, three runs ago. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 4

CAPTAIN’S RANSOM raced from a handy position in the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time, rallied late but found one too good in the form of Make It Snappy. The daughter of Captain Al is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D and has won this race for the past two years. She always gives of her best and should take a power of beating.

DESERT MIRACLE lost two lengths leaving the start in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes last time, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Dynasty has finished second over this C&D in the past. Christophe Soumillon retains the ride and if jumping on terms, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

SILVER DARLING finished 1.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of Silvano merits healthy respect.

Race 5

GENTLEMAN JOE produced a good comeback run when second over 1800m on this course last time. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Gimmethegreenlight won on this day last year. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

NEVADA KING has produced two good runs since winning his maiden over this C&D. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he was cramped for galloping room in the closing stages. With a bit of luck in running, he should pose a massive threat to the top choice.

FUTURE TURN finished 0.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 6

This is a competitive Summer Juvenile Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first choice is DUMBLEDORE from the Vaughan Marshall stable. He showed good speed on debut over 1000m, found extra where it matters most and held all challengers at bay. The well-related son of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and could be anything.

THE ABDICATOR was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over 1000m on this course. He jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls, but showed good pace and won with a ton in hand. The son of No Nay Never takes on stronger, but he looks to have class and can remain unbeaten.

WILLIAM WEST finished 0.4 lengths in front of GOLDEN TATJANA on debut. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today. The son of William Longsword would have come on from the run and must be included in all bets.

Race 7

SEEKING THE ONE ran a decent race when fourth in his last start after returning from a short nine-week break. He was slow into stride, overraced in the early stages but stayed on at the finish. He won a good race in the Non-Black Type Ready To Run Stakes in his penultimate start. The son of What A Winter should have no issues with the step up to the mile and if Luyolo Mxothwa is able to switch him off early, he should notch up his third career victory.

ROYAL AUSSIE was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas last time. He finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

DAVE THE KING finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection in his last start. The saddle was reported to have slipped in running. Christophe Soumillon takes the ride and with a bit of luck, he should run a big race.

Race 8

PRINCESS CALLA has been ultra-impressive in her two victories since joining the Sean Tarry stable. She moved up well in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes last time and found extra where it matters most to hold all challengers at bay. The daughter of Flower Alley is having her peak run this afternoon. Trainer Sean Tarry opted to miss the Grade 1 Majorca Stakes and she is the horse to beat.

RESONATE finished 0.25 lengths behind MR COBBS last time. He is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Aldo Domeyer retains the ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ISIVUNGUVUNGU should have won the Non-Black Type Winchester Sprint Cup last time as he had to be switched at the 300m mark. He has won twice and finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. Christophe Soumillon retains the ride and with a bit of luck, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 9

JET DARK ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He was an impressive winner in the Grade 3 Cape Mile in his penultimate effort. The son of Trippi finished second in this race last year and from his good draw of four, he can go one better.

KOMMETDIEDING finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. Last year’s winner has had a good preparation heading into this race and he merits healthy respect.

MAKE IT SNAPPY was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time. She set the pace, found another kick and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. She does face her toughest test to date, but carries a handy galloping mass of 51.5kgs and she should be hard to peg back.

Race 10

NEBRAAS caught the eye when finishing fifth in the Grade 2 Premier Trophy last time. He had to switch inwards at a crucial stage and finished his race off strongly. The 6yo gelding would have come on from the run and stays all day. French jockey Christophe Soumillon takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

CROME YELLOW won a good race in the Grade 3 Chairman’s Cup last time. He raced from a handy position, switched out for a run and won with a ton in hand. His record over this C&D is a slight concern, but he is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

SENSO UNICO finished 1 length behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will be at home over this distance.

Race 11

This is a competitive field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is KITCHAKAL from the Duncan Howells stable. He went to the front over 1600m last time and never went on with the effort. The son of Master Of My Fate will enjoy the drop to 1200m as he has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. If ridden with some restraint, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

MICHAEL FARADAY ran a good race when third over 1600m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is having his first run as a gelding which may have done the trick.

USA’S HOPE was ultra-impressive when winning his maiden over this C&D. The son of The United States takes a rise in class, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 12

MULBERRY STREET was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over this C&D. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. The daughter of The United States returns from a 12-week break during which time she would have strengthened up. She does take on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

FLYING FIRST followed up her maiden victory with a good third- place finish over this C&D. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. She has plenty of scope and is one of the leading contenders.

TURN THE PAGE finished 0.4 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the wire
