Race 1

AUSSENKEHR has produced three good runs since the gelding. He raced from just off the pace over 1250m last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of What A Thief. He is back on the straight course and can go one better.

INSIDE STORY finished 2 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The son of Dynasty would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be competitive.

GIMME’S LADDIE should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had no luck in the straight. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

Race 2

RED SASH ran a good race when second against male company over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville, three weeks ago. The daughter of The United States will love the extra furlong on offer. She is back against her own sex and should take a power of beating.

EVERLASTING tired late when fourth in her last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Her penultimate run when finishing third under S’manga Khumalo catches the eye. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ANNA KARENINA finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today. The daughter of Dynasty would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.

Race 3

HUNTING TRIP was ultra-impressive when winning her maiden at the third time of asking. She showed good speed, found another kick and was geared down in the latter stages. The daughter of Trippi takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

CITYSCAPE followed up her maiden win with a decent fifth-place finish over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The saddle was reported to have slipped that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and she is one of the leading contenders.

I’LL SLIP AWAY lasted long enough when shedding her maiden tag over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The daughter of Philanthropist is a progressive type and it is encouraging that Keagan de Melo retains the ride. She must be included in all bets.

Race 4

ALLENDE moved up like a winner in her last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville, but was outrun late by Say Yes. The daughter of Dynasty tries the mile for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should shed her maiden tag.

JAZZBELLA has produced three good runs to date. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but was outrun late by Flying First. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should have no issues with the rise to the mile and she merits healthy respect.

BEAU KALA showed very good improvement when finishing second over this distance last time. Jabu Jacobs retains the ride and if repeating that effort with 52.5kgs on her back, she should be competitive.

Race 5

Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson holds a strong hand in this contest and can saddle the first two past the post. GOLDEN HOSTESS was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Grade 2 Debutante last time. She was reported to be cut into on her left fore that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. The daughter of Gold Standard gets the services of Aldo Domeyer and if not in need of the run, she can return to winning ways.

WHO DO YOU LOVE is unbeaten from three starts. The manner in which she finished off her last start suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. Aldo Domeyer rides the top choice, but she can keep her unbeaten record intact.

HOLD MY HAND ran on strongly when fourth in the Grade 1 Thekwini Stakes last time. She is having her first run on a left-hand turn and if suited, she may be the one to spoil the Bass-Robinson party.

Race 6

HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE has top form lines to his credit. He raced from a prominent position in the Listed Somerset 1200 last time, but found one too good in the form of Charles Dickens. The son of What A Winter returns from a 20-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He has bigger plans for the rest of the Cape Summer Season, but has the class to win in this type of field.

RED IMPACT followed up his maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a challenge to the top choice.

TOUGH TERRAIN ran a decent race when third behind Charles Dickens over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He shows good speed in his races and should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. The son of Querari must be included in all bets.

Race 7

This is a competitive Southeaster Sprint field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is RESONATE from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable. He produced a typical second run after a rest in the Grade 3 Matchem Stakes last time and is better than the run suggests. He finished 1 length behind AMBIORIX in his penultimate run. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

AMBIORIX showed good speed when winning his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Calvin Habib retains the ride and he can follow up.

SAFE RETURN finished 2.5 lengths behind the second choice in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 8

CHARLES DICKENS was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1250m. He quickened up well at the top of the lane and was geared down in the latter stages. The son of Trippi should love the step up to 1400m. He has loads of class about him and should keep his unbeaten record intact.

AT MY COMMAND won a good race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. He does have the widest draw of ten to overcome but gets the services of Keagan de Melo who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

PORT LOUIS is the stable companion of the second choice. He was running on when third over this distance last time. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He always gives of his best and must be included in all bets.

Race 9

THE SECOND WAVE stayed on when fourth over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. It must be noted that Silvano’s Dasher has come out and won again since. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he can return to winning ways.

DRAGONFLY ran a fair race in his comeback run over 1250m last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.

RAGNAR LOTHBROK was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Corne Orffer retains the ride and the pair can follow up
