ORBIT hails from the Greg Ennion yard and JP van der Merwe will be doing duty. He is a son of One World and if fit, he can run a positive race.
Race 2
CIRCUMBENDIBUS has shown good improvement in his last two starts. He was running on too late when second over this C&D last time. The son of Vercingetorix is coming along the right way and he can go one better.
GURKHA produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He lost a length leaving the start but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Fire Away would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a big threat.
UMFULA finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The son of Canford Cliffs would have come on from the run and he should make the natural progression.
Race 3
This is a competitive Class 4 contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is OCTOBER FEST from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable. She showed good speed when winning her maiden over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Master Of My Fate takes on stronger, but she has scope and should be up to the task at hand.
ALL IS GREEN got up late when winning her last start over 1000m on this course. She received a two-pound penalty for that victory. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect.
CAPTAIN‘S DESTINY is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 4
ARRIX won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1200m last time. He quickened up well and won going away. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Vercingetorix looks to have class about him and he can follow up.
CARRIACOU‘S last three runs have been good. He was unlucky not to have won his last start as he had to take evasive action at the 700m mark. He returns to Class 4 Company and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, he should pose a massive threat.
LEGAL COUNSEL made the expected natural improvement when winning over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but Richard Fourie retains the ride, and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 5
ASIYE PHAMBILI produced an eye-catching comeback run over 1100m on this course, four weeks ago. She carried a hefty mass of 63.5kgs and challenged strongly all the way to the line. She finished 0.1 lengths behind MISS MARGUERITE that day and is 10.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be more than enough to turn the form around. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she should notch up her seventh-career victory.
SUMMER LILY finished 0.5 lengths behind MISS MARGUERITE in the race referred to above. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
NORDIC QUEST has consistent form lines to her credit. She won a good race in her penultimate start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She is having her peak run today and merits obvious consideration.
Race 6
GREEN WITH ENVY should have finished closer to ORIENTAL CHARM in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July last time, as he was switched for running room at the 300m mark. He returns from a 22-week break and is making his seasonal debut. This outing will bring him on for future races, but he loves racing on this course and he can return to winning ways.

The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should love the rise to the mile. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and with luck in running, she may be the one to cause the upset.
MON PETIT CHERIE was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship last time. She has cracked pole position which is a big plus. She has class about her and merits healthy respect.
GIMMIE‘S COUNTESS was doing her best work late over 1400m in the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship last time. She will love the rise to 1600m and racing on the Summer Course. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should be involved.
Race 8
CALL TO UNITE stayed on at the finish when fourth in the Listed Woolavington Stakes last time. He was reported to have choked up that day. The son of Vercingetorix was an impressive winner of his previous two starts at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He has no stamina issues and is versatile. Grant van Niekerk steps back into the saddle and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
ALLEZ MORIS has good recent form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position in the Listed Betway Algoa Cup last time and stayed on at the finish. The son of Dynasty tries the 2500m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a massive threat.
HOLDING THUMBS ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. The blinkers have been removed for this outing. Sean Veale is booked to ride and on best form shown, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

MAGIC VERSE is the stable companion of the top selection. He was unlucky not to have won his last start as he had to be switched for running room at the 300m mark. He should enjoy the rise to 2000m and with luck in running, he should be competitive.
JOIN THE DOTS finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

POWERANDTHEGLORY followed up his maiden victory with a decent fifth-place finish over this distance. He took the lead at the 200m mark that day before getting outrun late. The son of Gimmethegreenlight returned from a 24-week break and would have come on from the run. He will strip a much fitter horse and has plenty of scope. From his good draw of three, he should be the one to beat.
BIG UNIT won a good race in his last start over this distance. He has cracked a good draw of two and against similar company, he can follow up.
WILLIE JOHN was running on when third behind the second choice last time. Gareth Wright retains the ride and if getting away on terms, he should be involved at the finish
