Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: BLACK KNAP (4)
Jockey: M Byleveld - Trainer: V Marshall

BLACK KNAP is the best bet on the card. This son of Dynasty was super impressive when winning his maiden by 9.25 lengths, nine weeks ago. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in that race has come out and won twice since. He takes a big step up in class, but the 3yr old colt has a beautiful stride and looks to be something special. From a good draw of three, he should be hard to beat.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 3: WHITE LACE (3)
Jockey: M Byleveld - Trainer: V Marshall

WHITE LACE should have finished much closer than she did last time. She had to check at the 300m mark when making her run up the inside rail. In the end she ran on well to finish in the placings. That was her first run with the blinkers and they remain on. With luck in running, she should be the one that they all have to beat.

Race 4: BAG OF TRICKS (4)
Jockey: A Marcus - Trainer: B Crawford

BAG OF TRICKS found plenty of betting support when winning his last start over nine furlongs. He raced from a handy position that day and managed to hold on at the post. It must be noted that the form of that run has been franked. The son of Dynasty drops back to the mile this afternoon and gets the services of top jockey Anton Marcus. From a midfield draw of five, he should be able to get a good position to pounce in the straight.

Race 5: CHARLES (5)
Jockey: R Fourie - Trainer: J Snaith

CHARLES was an ultra impressive winner in his first start as a gelding. He raced wide throughout, but the manner in which he quickened in the straight was eye-catching. He will enjoy stepping up to the mile today and jumps from pole position. The son of Trippi is having his second run after a rest and there may be more to come.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY

Race 7: HERODOTUS (2)
Jockey: R Fourie - Trainer: J Snaith

HERODOTUS produced a promising comeback run at Durbanville, six weeks ago. He set the pace but was outrun late by the highly-rated Belgarion. In his penultimate start, he raced in the Winter Derby but raced wide for some distance. He would have strengthened up since that run and should be ready to tackle the marathon distance once again. The son of Trippi is having his second run after a rest today and should have more to come.
