Race 1
Eight of the nine horses in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. HANDSOME PRINCE is the only horse with experience. He produced a decent debut effort over 800m in the Non-Black Type Futurity Plate. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He would have come on from the run and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
COMMANDING is an unraced son of William Longsword from the Glen Kotzen stable with Raymond Danielson in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Celtic Voyager and Calvary. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note.
IKO IKO hails from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable and he is a son of Fire Away. He is related to multiple winners including Goliath Heron and Black Egret. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride and he should give a good account of himself.
Race 2
Eleven of the seventeen runners in this contest are first timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. DAFNES DAUGHTER is a daughter of Vercingetorix from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. Her mother, Schippers was a six-time winner between 1160m and 1200m. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note.
SORCERESS SUPREME showed some signs of needing her debut effort over this C&D. She showed good pace but did not go on with the effort. The daughter of Erupt would have come on from the run and with experience on her side, she should be competitive.
SHEETS AND GOGGLES is a daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Captain Tatters and Drunken Sailor. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 3
DANCINGTOTHELIGHT made the expected natural improvement when third in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and should have more to come.
MONKEY PUZZLE is an unraced son of Canford Cliffs from the Brett Crawford stable with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
CHAMPAGNE MAC showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed, but tired late. The son of Trippi is having his peak run today and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should be competitive.
Race 4
PUSHING LIMITS produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.
FANNY KEMBLE raced from a prominent position over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL is still a maiden after 21 starts, but her last two outings have been fair. In this field, she can earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 5
TICKING BOMB jumped inwards leaving the start over 1400m last time, but stayed on to finish third. She is a progressive type and she will love the rise to the mile. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she may be the one to beat.
SUN SPECTACULAR ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. Grant van Niekerk steps back into the saddle and she is one of the leading contenders.
CICADIDAE finished 0.4 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. She is having her peak run and will be cherry-ripe.
Race 6
HOLDING THUMBS was in need of his debut effort over 1200m. He was green in running and did not go on with the effort. The winner of that race, The Real Prince looks to be special. He would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1600m. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but Raymond Danielson should have a plan and he will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
INDECENT PROPOSAL ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be competitive.
COSMIC CAPTAIN showed good improvement in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. If confirming his recent improvement, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 7
LIKETHECLAPPERS has good consistent form lines to his credit. He set the pace over 1400m on this course last time, but was outrun late. He tries the mile for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can notch up his third-career victory.
INCREDIBILL finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
SLURRICANE followed up his maiden win with an impressive victory over 1400m on this course. He returns from a lengthy 37-week break and if not in need of the run, he can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 8
FATAL GEM dead-heated with PRINCESS IZZY when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the longer run-in. She is on the upgrade and she can notch up the hat-trick.
PRINCESS IZZY took the lead at the 200m mark last time and showed good guts to share the victory with the top choice. She meets similar company this afternoon and merits healthy respect.
CALLMEGETRIX finished 2.75 lengths behind the first and second choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the trio at the finish.
Race 9
MASKED VIGILANTE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has won twice and finished second once from eleven starts over this C&D. The son of Vercingetorix takes a drop-in class and he can return to winning ways.
KELP FOREST ran on powerfully to win his last start over 1400m. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the son of Flower Alley. He is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
VERONIQUE finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line
