Race 1

MISS NEW YORK has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. The manner in which she ran on at the finish over 1400m last time was eye-catching. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and from pole position, she may be the one to side with.

SAARTJIE finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. The daughter of Dynasty will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RED KITE has decent consistent form lines to her credit. She set the pace over this C&D last time, but was outrun late. JP van der Merwe takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 2

SHANTASTIC produced a strong finish when winning her last start over this C&D. She was reported to be coughing post-race. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Rafeef received a five-pound penalty for that victory and against similar company, she can notch up her third career victory.

MAGNETIC DIME moved up like a winner over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, but was outrun late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

RED SASH finished 3.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and she should finish closer as a result.

Race 3

ROCKPOOL was given a perfect ride when winning his maiden at the fourth time of asking over this distance on the Winter course. The good-looking son of Futura is a progressive type and will be at home on the longer run-in. He is a Derby prospect and should have the class to win in this line-up.

INCREDIBILL should have won his last start over this distance as he hung outwards in the closing stages. He has dropped to a competitive rating and if keeping on a straight line, he should be the one to fill the exacta spot.

BLACKBERRY MALT finished 1.05 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.

Race 4

SELUKWE had to overcome a wide draw of thirteen in his last start over 2000m and stayed on to finish third. His penultimate run when finishing second over this distance, catches the eye. He moved up like a winner that day, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Rockpool. The son of Pomodoro has cracked a good draw of three and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

GREEN MANDARIN has produced two decent efforts to date, the latest of which was over this distance at Fairview. He will strip a much fitter horse today and is one of the leading contenders.

HAWK CIRCLE ran a good race when third over 1400m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip a much fitter horse today and if jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 5

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is GRANDI ORECCHIE from the Gavin van Zyl yard. She stayed on when fifth over 1600m on this course last time. The daughter of Wylie Hall should be at home over this distance. She has plenty of scope and in this type of field, she can shed her maiden tag.

DESTINED TO DANCE lost a length at the start over 1600m last time, but ran on well at the finish. The daughter of Ideal World should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and if jumping on terms, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BY MIDNIGHT finished 1.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 6

BEERENBERG has top consistent form lines to his credit. He ran on well last time, moved up but was caught late by Runaway Song. He will enjoy the drop to 1200m. Grant van Niekerk retains the ride and if jumping on terms, he can notch up his fourth career victory.

ROYAL AUSSIE set the pace in a minor feature last time, but was caught late. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Royal Mo will strip much fitter and merits healthy respect.

LET IT BURN should have finished much closer to the winner last time as he had no luck in the closing stages. He has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. He will be at peak fitness and with a bit of luck, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

MR FROSTIE finished 0.35 lengths behind ENSUING last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second twice and third four times from eleven starts over this C&D. He shows good speed in his races and may be hard to peg back.

CHEEKY LADDIE finished 0.05 lengths behind ENSUING in the race referred to above. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

ENSUING was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory and against a similar field, he can follow up.

Race 8

GOLD POKER GAME was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over 1600m on the Winter course. The manner in which she quickened up and drew off in the closing stages was encouraging. The daughter of Gold Standard will love the step up to 1800m and despite her big mass of 61kgs, she should notch up her third career victory.

LOVE IS A ROSE finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, GOLD POKER GAME won easier than the margin suggests and may still have the upper hand.

LADY SILVANO stayed on when 2.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. The daughter of Bold Silvano should be at home over 1800m and she can run into the placings
